I always wonder, why convert them at all?
Is this some sort of get around YT region locking?
I know not everyone can legally proxy. It just seems like a lot of effort for meh quality.

NO, dont even put this idea out there. there was some guy who figured out you could just embed
videos that downloaded from youtube in flash several years back and then began the spamming of <1
00 KiB swf files. it was a terrible, terrible time. since the video bytes wasn't even in the
flash some of them probably dont even work nowadays if they got taken down on youtube for one
reason or another.
you need the hassle of converting video to FLV as a filter to remove the absolute worst trash
videos you'd otherwise get here. compressing a video to fit on /f/ and still be watchable is
actually an art form of its own.
OP the best option is swfchan's tools. you've probably seen the pre-loader circle. of course if
you want to use some other way to make a classic FLV on the timeline i wont stop you, those can
be beautiful if done right
