You could technically say that /wsg/ can be for many things so that /f/ is only useful for games
and interactive movies. That would eliminate about 90% of /f/ content and /f/ would die.

There is precious little Flash content posted anymore, and RARELY a real Flash OC.
Now, everything is a wrapped video, stuffed in the container by some scriptkiddie who can't into
Flash, using SWFants cancer-generator.
swfchan reports 187640 unique flashes cataloged as of this moment... most are actual flash,
though most are trash and have only been seen once or twice. But they were real Flash.
This community has gotten amnesia, and has gone to the dogs.

I don't understand how you can still be so put off by it especially since you have apparently
been around for awhile now.
The "pure" flash board you desire hasn't existed in basically forever and you know this.
And dismissing those who actually put in effort to learn about h264 encoding and who actually put
in real effort to get the best possible quality out of their content is lame.
The time "some of them" go through cutting tape up, finding the ideal bit balances and often
going through many/multiple, sometimes quite lengthy encoding sessions in order to squeeze out
every possible drop of quality in whatever they wish to present is real effort and they do so
because they care about the board and its users.
They could do what many have done which is download some shitbox converter and effortlessly crap
out an often horribly pixelated h263 mess in 5 seconds flat, but they don't.
Taking the piss out of video creators who often put in serious effort, sometimes making /f/
exclusive video projects which can take many hours of effort or even partial work over a few days
is kind of shitty.
There are worse villains for sure and random bitching obviously never changes anything.
I have always been ok with a balance.
A board that allows flash video, flash games and flash animation.
Maybe without certain content the board would live on but I think it would likely be much slower
and much less active.
Maybe it would be nice that way... who knows, but I like it fine the way it is.
Learn to ignore content you dislike and post more content you like or give up on it.
I do understand where you are coming from though, I just don't have the same outlook.
I hope you can somewhat change your views aswell.

This problem of a flash converted to a video and then wrapped in this preloader stems from

yotam posts on newgrounds in addition to youtube, so this was likely downloaded from there. I
believe that many flash creators on newgrounds were socially pressured to post stuff in video
format instead of .swf on newgrounds, thus removing a lot of flash releases. Not to mention that
a lot of older flashes were converted to video with this tool, examples off the top of my head

There's so much wrong with this little rant... have you even used that tool? It takes all the
skill out of what you mention. You feed it a video, set a target size, and it chews up hours and
billions of cycles empirically trying bitrates attempting to hit just under the target. No skill.
Also, it's the wrong damn codec! There's a good reason Flash only accepts FLV media streams
encoded in ON2VP6. Stuffing H264 is an unsupported, somewhat unstable hack.
Don't get me wrong, I've wrapped plenty of video, and have spent countless hours and days
tweaking my recodes to fit the board limit when it gets close to the wall. You need to do a bit
of fancy math and actually understand how the codec streams to select the right bitrate and
sampling parameters to get a viewable FLV.
However, I DO NOT grab any old youtube dreck off the floor and stuff it. I actually edit the
video and audio in Vegas, Soundforge, ACID, etc., all with the aforementioned in mind in
preparation for the recode to FLV. Then, only after I drop the OC on /f/, do I *maybe* upload the
master to my YT.
So to say I'm "taking the piss out of video creators who often put in serious effort" is quite
the joke. If you actually put this kind of effort into it, or can do this at all, I guarantee
you're not using the cancer tool.

True, and false. Use swfchan and browse the pages. Before 2010 there were not very many wrapped
movies, compared to the plethora of scribbles, animutations, games, loops and psy-art. You have
to admit, these days, at least 30% of the board at any given time is SwfH264-generated content.
Often quite a bit more on bad days. This has turned into /f/Tube, or Vines' graveyard.
