The majority of furries are still straight, that said IIRC studies done on the subject showed 15% gay, 23% bisexual(May be some overlap with the gay category), and 4% "Other" and the rest straight. Considering we have very little good data, the national average is 10% gay and 15% bisexual. Now if you look up self identifying gay/lesbian/bisexual it's normally <10% but the 10 and 15% figures come from realizing that humans are largely the same, and when looking at countries that are more open to accepting gay's and bisexuals those numbers are that high. Which is why data is hard. You can say "At least 4% of people are gay in the US because they self identify, BUT we know looking at animals, humans of other countries who are the same races and realizing they should be the same, why is it 10% in country X and not country Y? External factors must apply". Anyway the point is furries do have higher rates then top predictions of gays and bisexuals for countries and self identifying percentages. As well as higher rates of autism.(Not much honestly, it's like 0.5% to 2%, still "4 times as high") In the end why is there more gay furry porn? Mainly guys. Guy's are more likely to make porn, draw porn, while women are more likely to write erotica. Gay porn is big. Guy's want porn they can identify with. Gay men it's not hard to extrapolate would be more willing if they are furry to draw furry porn they want. Shame is also a part of it. Say you're straight but a furry. You can hide it pretty easily. Hell don't draw porn. Easy to hide it. Don't consume it as much. There easy. You're gay and already came out? Well what's being gay and furry going to be any different? You overcame the shame. So draw what you want. There's probably other factors. Also furries can be directly linked to prepubescent development and going through puberty while identifying with sexual items. Any item can be sexual. So watching cartoons during puberty that have anthro characters can over developmental puberty make you ingrained to like that type of thing. Moreover if you don't have a "normal" childhood and your sexual objects or items are limited the chance of being more attracted to it increase. For example: Active kids, don't watch cartoons, "healthy" childhood including friends will most likely turn into someone who wouldn't be a furry. Active kid, does watch cartoons, has a few friends, will be probably rounded and normal, but would admit furry porn would be "attractive". Loner kid who watches cartoons, doesn't socialize? You might have a recipe for a furry. Of course that's an over generalization, but we do know why fetishes exist. We even have studies showing kids who see their sister or mother in their underwear or revealing clothing when younger end up having underwear(panties) fetish, and one of the reasons "lingerie" is a big fetish is because you don't see naked women when younger, you do see nearly naked women. Where you find the furries largely dictates what sort of furries they might be. 4chan furries for example are often more often homosexual, transexual or such-like. Also male. If you find a furry on a typical gaming forum, they may likely not be of age and are very probably straight and male. Some places such as Tumblr are more likely to be receptive to have female furries, I'd imagine. Don't get me wrong, I've hung around a place dedicated to posting gay furries.
