The frame limitation is what I think is their problem. BUT the 16k frames limit is actually not for the whole flash, it's for a single MovieClip. You can have as many frames as you'd like to just as long as you split em up into several MovieClips. The developer of ppppuX seems to only put them on the main timeline however, then it becomes a problem at the fault of his methods, he could work around this limitation. Instead of having 20 swf files he could have 1 swf file with 19 frames on the main timeline, each containing a MovieClip that contains up to 16000 frames. Just to be 100% sure I know what I'm talking about I just made a flash that hade 6 MovieClips in them, each containing 5000 frames. The swf (with 30k frames in total) worked just fine and I didn't get any warning about having too many frames (if you put over 16k frames on the same timeline you get a warning). I'm not sure about the other limitations on that page but I think you can have 16k layers in a single MovieClip as well. The 16k loaded movies limitation I think is about loading external swf files. The 16k symbol instances is probably about displaying 16k instances of things at the same time. Could be about having 16k items in the flash's library though, it's not clear. Whoever wrote that article on Adobe clearly doesn't know what he is talking about since he wrote this about the frames: >If your movie must have more than this number of frames, try creating multiple movies with fewer than 16,000 frames each and then linking the movies together using a method such as the ActionScript 2 loadMovie() command. Which is false, he should have also said that you could just use several MovieClips. Now it looks like you are fucked if you have more than 16k frames. Sad to see this in an official article but since Adobe fucked up the flash legacy it's not too surprising.

So they didn't fix/patch the frames problem in a newer version of flash, it was never there in the first place. It's an unfortunate limitation for sure but when you can work around it so easily it's hardly a problem.
