Nishimura-sama is the only possible person on earth that could have kept 4chan alive. if he hadnt
stepped up, moot would have just let it die.

reading all the stuff you're writing here maybe he should let 4chan die
but by letting hiroshimoot run the place he just postponed the inevitable

It's not like the format just vanishes, so be honest: Who on /f/ here hasn't a very specific
interest in flash already, meaning you would obviously find a simple way to still browse /f/
afterwards and nobody cares enough to replace /f/ with html5 (because it's not that easily done).
The death will hurt more run-of-the-mill websites that depend on ad income like swfchan, where
loosing people who can't be arsed enough to do do something to have back flash would really
tumble the userbase.

that summerfags spike
>>3308851
he's no honorable person though, and he surely didn't "save" 4chan for generous reasons
he's known to his own kin as a very bad person of debatable morale and was even banned on 2ch
(not to be confused with futaba, which he created)
I mean, do you really think NOBODY would have stepped up to continue 4chens for free, like a
single mod, not unlike how 4chan was originally created.
Then again, the damage moot did in his last years (especially after gamergate and sjw were a
thing) was beyond repair anyway, so that's why I'm glad that /f/ just sits besides all that shit
like usual, because the "regular" 4chan has become mostly unbrowsable to oldfags (at least to me)
>>3308863
This place is going nowhere, hiroshimoot didn't pay huge sums to just let it slip away
he got plans with his ads corporate group circle shenanigans

There's been a lot of threads regarding that back when the deadline was announced
To put it shortly, besides the problem that making games would only theoretically possible to be
as good as in flash (it would actually never reach that quality and just be a worse alternative),
there just isn't a standardized container format. There is not .html5 file like .swf, .html would
be quite the challenge to implement. Anons would have to manually implement a way that packs and
depacks .html5 files in a standardized way with all existing file structures in mind and make it
so your pc wouldn't scream in agony of MAH WALRUS.
And nobody on the dev team will do that. /webm/ would be way more likely, but we already got the
dead format /gif/ board for that, so...

summerfags! i was wondering what happened late july and august!
but youre right. nishimura san isnt the best guy, but hes the best guy for /4chan/. who cares his
motivation, as long as 4chan lives to see another day. cancer will come and go, but oldfags will
always be here and its not that nobody would have stepped up, its that moot wouldnt have left it
with anyone else.
also, i think you got futaba and 2channel mixed up. he created 2channel and was instrumental in
making nico nico douga.
to quote the bio on him in moots last news post,
>I'm sitting in a sterile white conference room waiting for Hiroyuki Nishimura. Japan is a nation
where the 3:17 train arrives every day at 3:17 — not 3:16 or 3:18 — and Nishimura is 45 minutes
late.
how is he not the man 4chan needed?

>gif is dead
That's like saying png or jpg is dead because there's new image formats. Heck your browser even
supports bmp files even though nobody uses those anymore.
>>3308931
>summerfags
Hardly, that's simply the jump in activity because of adobe's announcement and the double sticky.
Probably also people from other boards hearing about it and posting. Looks like the same pattern
of a few years ago when people were freaking out about rumors of /f/ being deleted.

>saying png or jpg is dead because there's new image formats
Not quite the same thing. Flash is not be deprecated because there is something much better to
replace it. It is due to all the new vulnerabilities that pop up as quickly as they patch the
found ones.
I can think of only a couple of instances in the last decade where an image format had a
vulnerability that required a patch, and often that would be due to one specific library that was
extremely common.
Totally different from the concerns about Flash.

well flash has actionscript, does your png have a programming language built into it? Flash is
more comparable to javascript than a single image format. There's been plenty of bugs in the
various javascript implementations but everyone seems to ignore that they exist.
