  yea what most agree upon, this is much better than the gay shit dark stuff they fearmonger on tv

  It's wise to distrust mindless positivity, but mindless negativity is an equally good tool for
  manipulation and much easier to convince groups with.

  Just keep focusing on how the world is scary and horrible, and how it's all the fault of [insert
  demographic here] who are doing [insert controversial issue here]. Create echochambers for each
  faction to prevent them from actually communicating with each other, and pit them against each
  other into a fight to the death over issues that mean nothing to your balance of power. If no
  such issues exist, invent them by pushing to do something pointlessly awful that they feel they
  must expend all their energy opposing, then get the group in support of that idea to fight
  against the first group's crusade by threatening to buckle to it.

  Then when they're busy tearing each other apart over banning/legalizing gay weed abortion, rob
  them blind. Make sure that any faction or group that actually objects to the ruling class is seen
  as stupid, childish and/or ineffective, so they can never receive any useful support from the
  people.

  Not only will the divided populace be too exhausted to push for any real political or economic
  reform that could destabilize you, you can create demographics that are loyal to your agenda out
  of spite for another demographic that they've been trained to despise using such fodder issues.

  A little positivity isn't going to be a threat to us any time soon, I think.
