I dont remember what it was called but i remember my friend using it. It was some sort of music
maker app but he was just selecting different squares on different levels which made different
tones. It could get quite complex and make semi decent songs, any help in finding what it was is
appreciated

Not quite, what youre talking about is a tone matrix the one im thinking of is a similar but far
more complex program where the grid continued moving right indefinitely and after making a
section or certain beat you could save that section and put it together with other sections
