[_] What shit can replace flash? Anonymous 09/27/19(Fri)21:00:11 No.3403691

I honestly have no idea where to ask this, and I doubt this is the right place, but I don't lose
  anything with trying.

well see, I want to make a webcomic and use a format similar to the one Homestuck used, using
just like Homestuck "flash" for that certain pages be animations, and some others be interactive
pages, from time to time, just like Homestuck did.

The thing is thatm in the present times Flash is dying, sincw next year most of the browsers will
not even bring Flash with them, and they cann't will be use to see this type of content.

So I wanted to ask, Does anyone know which alternatives I have? Is there "something" that is
practically identical in functionality, that let me create animations and mini-games as it was
done with Flash, and that "this thing" will work in browsers that will be used in modern times?

you could learn and use HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript they're even not considered niche anymore so
you'll be learning transferable skills to other shit you might need to do as well as developing
  your comic

Just in case you missed this: https://archive.is/iGFos
It's promising news about there being a flash-replacement here once flash support period is done.
It could end up being Ruffle or something else.

I see why it's necessary but I hope they have the common sense to allow people who are using
older browsers to just view the flash file and not whatever file that process spits out.

ask the dude doing Prequel the elder scrolls comic what his plan is, and just copy that. He too
is doing an MSPA-like with flash animations and the occasional minigame.

  Also
  >tfw you realize she wasn't ironic or passive aggressive, she really was a whimsical 30-something
womanchild that adored corny wizards and black cats, overindulged her daughter to the point of
extravagance and even negligence in hopes of winning her affection, and when that repeatedly
backfired, so far out of touch with her daughter by that point that all her expiatory offers were
barking up the wrong tree and in fact digging her grave deeper, she drowned her maternal
self-loathing in the drink, making her all the more negligent.

I'm glad Rose ended up with snarky bitch Kanaya just like herself, because anyone that defaults
to sincere expression would have been torn to shreds just like poor Mom Lalonde.

The good news is that there are projects working to keep flash alive. The bad news is that these
are basically 'Legacy' support projects, hoping to provide continual support for a format which
is being phased out. The projects don't focus on flash creation (animation, scripting etc) either.
Flash used to be installed on the majority of 'net-connected PCs, which meant creators could use
the relatively simple Adobe program to create animations and share them easily with the internet.
These days the best bet is the standard languages of the web (HTML5, CSS and JS). They've evolved
a lot since flash first arrived and have much of the capabilities, the main barrier is the
learning curve. Perhaps there is some framework or tool for creating flash-like interactive
animations that converts to javascript? It would be the most flexible option if possible.

  >snarky bitch Kanaya
they both are just more obtuse when it comes to expressing emotions, it's not that they don't
have them. Kanaya is often quite blunt anyway, it was Rose that corrupted her with sarcasm.
either way it's clear they're good together lol
