Absolutely everything is politicized now. I don't want any of it anymore

The problem is that the internet is accessible to more and more people. Which means of course the
lowest common denominator becomes lower.
It's the same effect when Facebook became a thing and more people had a reason to get online in
the first place.
It's the same effect when MySpace was a thing and people had a reason to get online.
It's the same effect that's been happening since back in the day when AOL became a thing.
You can't put the genie back in the bottle. More assholes are going to find the internet, and
turn it into a fucking echo chamber to see who can scream the loudest, and give a voice to the
most fucktarded things they can find.
And it has twisted our society.

It's a useful tool, but there is the matter of being able to tell the falsehoods from truth.
It's the same rule as people used to use with the news media. Trust but verify.

Avoid normie places on the internet, we have more influence over what we see on the internet than
you think.
It just becomes more difficult as normies expand to all popular sites.
The internet used to be an escape from the outside, now I want to escape the internet.

2011 is when i noticed internet had gone mainstream. sure people had been using internet for
e-mails and such before then but 2011 was when it finally occurred to me that exactly everybody
knew what the internet was and it was common for TV shows to urge you to visit their website.
that's when it started going downhill.

twitter is doing an excellent job at creating echo chambers by banning people due to wrong-think.
all that will happen is new platforms for special interests will spring up where there is zero
chance to be exposed to the opposite viewpoint.

And now a generation that has never known a time without easy internet access, is voting and
popping out tablet-addicted spawn, and for spome reason think everything they do is interesting...

I mean, before giant platforms like twitter existed, the internet was that seperated place of
many small forums and communities. It's just now that the people post things like "look, someone
said someyhing stupid on the internet I disagree with". Either way, it's the people that act
differently.

difference is that the US president, companies, celebrities etc aren't on different platforms,
they are all on one platform which makes it THE online community. and when they shut some groups
out of the platform they become extremely isolated and shunned

Being scared to miss something is not healthy. Is it really that imortant what big normie names
put in low effort posts?

that's beside the point. the point is that twitter has become more than just a platform, them
banning people is basically on par with a village kicking someone out into the wilderness 500
years ago. you're not allowed to take part in the discussion any more. so it's not the same as it
was 15 years ago when the internet consisted of a bunch of scattered communities.

That sucks, but I imagine this only happens in topics where people already have their opinion and
the "discussions" never lead anywhere, it's the internet.
I forgot my twitter login last year with only porn artists I followed, nothing of value was lost
and don't care about that site.

yeah but we two choose not to care about twitter, imagine all the people that actually want to
participate and how messed up it is that twitter can just take that away from them at will

Particiate in what? Anything /pol/ related ends in a shitshow no matter which favorite team they
take sides on and they never try to come together, just us versus them. With the right words
nobody gets banned, but going full 4chan will obviously lead to problems.

participate in the discussion. like replying to what people say about stuff. to what the
president says. it's just too big to be called any platform now

I think a lot of political threads are botted in by interest groups. I've got no evidence, but
they're always up and at the top when everyone hates them.
