[_] Problem inisde, /f/ ? Anonymous 06/17/20(Wed)10:55:49 No.3431339

Just noticed the following paragraph on the official site:
  https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html#
  >No. Adobe will be removing Flash Player download pages from its site and Flash-based content
will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date.
  >Adobe always recommends using the latest, supported and up-to-date software. Customers should
not use Flash Player after the EOL Date since it will not be supported by Adobe.

So far nothing new. Guessed they wouldn't have a download for legacy. Adobe has been pretty hot
  off erasing flash alltogether.
  But it also says
  >Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date.
which makes me think: Is Adobe purposefully gonna screw final versions of Flash to not be able to
run whatsoever? That means it is HIGHLY advised to keep a good stack of older flash player
versions, preferably ones that were archived BEFORE they even intended to do this, as they may
have retroactively injected this into versions of flashplayer.

We need a trustworthy source for the final version of the player that will definitely not be
pozzed, but at the same time we can really onlty test this after 2020.

Marked for deletion (old).

I assume they mean the in-browser flash players. I find it honestly unbelievable that they're
saying the offline projector will break itself after 2020.

  This.

The projector still works if I set system time to 2021.

I can't believe how easily they can kill any software, I would be fine using office98 still, I
reckon we need a free software alternative for flash.

newgrounds was working on something but it runs awfully slow on older computers

I remember that there were talks of some program that allows you to use flashes on a browser and
4chinz staff was looking into it, but i cant remember the name of it

I really wish there was something that could be done to prevent this travesty. What adobe is
doing is bullshit, killing a platform that is required to run 20 years worth of games and
  animations. That is just unacceptable.

I wish we could trick BLM into destroying adobes HQ

The funny part is that this will only make people less safe when they go looking for Flash from
sketchy sources. You can't remove the demand. Absolute fucking retards.

But anyway, there's no way old standalone players could be affected, or I hope not. Chrome's been
nagging about Flash for many, many months now, so we've all known that Chrome will forcibly
remove Flash capability as soon as they can (Google can't wait, given this is their doing to
begin with), and Firefox is the same. I'm pretty sure that's all they're referring to.

The problem is that anything connected to the Internet needs to be maintained, at least for
vulnerabilities, and Adobe just does not want to do it any more. It is sad that Adobe may be
planning to implement a kill-switch, but that is no different than the games that require a
connection to a game company's server to run and that company kills the server.

I agree that it is bad, but if you read the license agreement, they typically say that you do not
own the software, you own the right to use it within the bounds of the agreement...
