Why does this series and Azumanga stand out so much?
And why isn't Yotsuba an anime yet!

Nichijou because vibrant, unique artstyle, western style slapstick humor, and very high
production values. Azumanga because it was the current sensation in the early days of 4chan, so
kind of grandfathered in. Still a great series of course.
>why isn't Yotsuba an anime yet!
Azuma wasn't happy with the Azumanga anime for whatever reason, and won't give his blessing for a
Yotsuba anime.

but it doesn't, it flopped in japan due to overbudgeting and half the jokes go over the average
person's head

Both of them are slice of life on the surface but spend a lot of runtime on extremely exaggerated
situations.
Nichijou in particular had a huge budget that let the animators dial things up to 11 on every
scene; you wonder what made them think they could make a profit on it (it was Kyoto's biggest
failure).
