[_] How to use the flash board ta-kun 01/11/21(Mon)21:55:22 No.3456713
Hello, welcome to the flash board
Browsers have officially kill switched the flash player online
Currently, the embed function does not work on /f/, it is planned to be implemented in the future
through ruffle
1)You can still download the flashes and play them locally, however, most people want to view
them first before putting them on their pc.
2)You can view those submissions on swfchan through ruffle.
3)You can also use ruffle as an extension, it is planned act exactly like flash in the browser.
1)downloading locally
If you are having trouble downloading a flash, try a different browser, try to save link as
instead of clicking it, or try to save the flash from the page source, you can find out more on
wikihow. Flashes are not harmful to your device, /f/ is a trustworthy source, you can dismiss the
message and get your flash.
2)Viewing embed through swfchan:
>go to swfchan.com
>look up the name of the flash you are trying to view on /f/
>to make sure you are viewing the right thing check if the wiki threads lead to the current thread
>click on one of the known names
>select "use ruffle for playback"
>get file
>enjoy your flash
3) using ruffle as an extention
If you are interested in using ruffle as an extension please check the discord and github of the
development for more details.
>Does ruffle perfectly work like flash?
currently ruffle only supports up to AS2 and is missing certain features such as the blending
modes and effects.
>video in flashes should work fine
>anything that doesn't have code should probably work fine
>any game until 2007, and a lot of games up until about 2015 should work fine
>animation should work fine as long as it doesn't have AS3 elements in it
Follow the ruffle development: https://ruffle.rs/

BIG UPDATE!
You can watch embed by rolling backwords your pc time.
It works perfectly normal.
I am expecting that in the future they will remove it entirely, but for now you can still change
your date to before the 12th and it works.
>>3456724
Pardon. I have yet to look too much into it myself, I just know it is possible since I heard it
talked about on the server. They aren't saying anything about it yet because there's probably
still nothing concrete.
I wanted to include it for anyone who wanted to look more into it.

For the sake of keeping all the info in one thread I will post this here as well
How to defuse the timebomb in flash
Use a hex editor to search for the hex string:
00 00 40 46 3E 6F 77 42
And replace it with:
00 00 00 00 00 00 F8 7F
THE SIX FILES YOU NEED TO CHANGE ON WINDOWS ARE IN THE FOLLOWING TWO DIRECTORIES:
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash (32-bit flash on 64-bit only)
FILENAMES:
Flash32_32_0_0_###.ocx (ActiveX: IE / IrfanView version)
Flash64_32_0_0_###.ocx (ActiveX: IE / IrfanView version)
NPSWF32_32_0_0_###.dll (NPAPI: Firefox / Palemoon version)
pepflashplayer32_32_0_0_###.dll (PPAPI: Chrome/Chromium/360/Edge version)
OCX files are write-protected so you will need to rename and copy, or take ownership of them as
required.

You revert the time bomb by reverting your clock backwards.

As long as you revert it to before the 12th it should work

Okay faggots. Here's what you need to know.
Adobe Flash Player browser plugins versions AFTER v32.0.0.371 have a killswitch that will
activate January 12th 2020. After this date, the Flash Player plugin will actively prevent itself
from playing SWF files in your browser.
However, there is a way around this.
Below is a download link to a combined archive of several different 32.0.0.371 installers. Pick
the one you need and install it, then go into Flash's settings and disable automatic updates.
Congratulations, you can now continue using the Flash Player plugin to watch Flash files on your
web browser.
https://archive.org/download/flashplayerarchive/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/f
p_32.0.0.371_archive.zip
You'll need to use an offline installer. Otherwise it'll outright tell you you're not installing
the latest version and cancel. For most Windows users that will be "flashplayer32_0r0_37
1_win.msi" I'm afraid I can't help Mac or Linux users, but they probably already know what
they're doing anyway.
There are, of course, alternatives. Flash's own standalone projectors do not have the killswitch.
You can download SWFs and run them in these projectors directly off your hard drive. You can set
up file associations to have the SWFs automatically open in the projector. You can also put in an
URL to run SWFs directly from the internet without having to download.
It can be found in the above URL as files with "_sa" in the filename. Windows Example:
flashplayer32_0r0_371_win_sa.exe
There's also Ruffle, which is still in development, and there's even a version that doesn't
require you to install any browser plugins but but is run on-demand from sites that implement it,
but it isn't quite finished yet and some flashes will break.
Some Flash games are published as standalone projectors and are safe from the killswitch.

>> [_] ta-kun 01/12/21(Tue)02:05:55 No.3456769

Save is tied to browser.
If you want your old save data you have to revert your pc time(it's a simple setting, its
harmless).
Some games allow you to have a save password, you can revert the time, go to the sites, get the
password and punch it into your pc copy.
Also, any big MMOs in flash like dragonfable generally have the data saved on a server somewhere,
meaning the game should be fine
