since flash has sunset, I've been using an old version of flash + an old version of firefox I
chose not to update many years ago. on firefox, I can view flashes, but I can't figure out how to
download them.
Is there a trick to it or should I try a different browser
any help is appreciated

Right click on link->"Save Link As..."
Pale Moon and Basilisk are forks of older Firefox version, you might want to look into them.

Additionally if you view a flash in its own tab then click the address bar at the top to focus
the browser and press Ctrl+S to save the swf file.
If you view the flash embedded in Firefox you can Ctrl+S and save "Web Page, complete", then it
downloads the html as well as the swf (you get a subfolder where the flash and everything else on
the page is saved). This might require you to "retry" the download inside the Firefox download
manager but then it should work.

For embed flashes there's other methods methods.
1) Right click->Show page source (or simply Ctrl+U), then Ctrl+F for swf files
2) The one I prefer
F12 to open the dev tools, then go to the network tab and refresh the page.
The swf files will appear in the list.

Are you guys still using embedded flash's? I haven't been on /f/ since December. I'm on Firefox
and want to browse but I can't load anything. Is there like an extension or something that will
give me flash back or are you just saving every single one and playing it on the desktop?

Ruffle or Lightspark are open source projects to implement flash, or if you can find the old
Adobe installer on wayback machine you can reinstall it. What browser / OS are you using?

You'll want Flash version 32.0.0.371.
Later flash versions will show a flash logo instead of the SWF.
This is what people call the "killswitch"
Future versions of FF and Chromium will have code that checks whether the flash plugin is
installed and explicitly refuse to load it, but current versions work fine.
You can also use the latest (32.0.0.465) standalone player (the "projector") to play swfs in a
separate window.

Use the 4chan API to pull all the swf files in one go, and download bluemaxima.org/flashpoint
rather than ruffle.rs
Sure, ruffle.rs is cool and all, but it doesn't work yet. And flashpoint has multiple version of
flash to play a lot of flash games.

How have you all gotten around white screens? Like 50% of files play, the other half just give a
white screen and refuse to load the program.
I generally just DL the .swf file, but I was wondering if there was any other ways to do so?
