Some of you might know that an Evangelion movie was meant to come out today before being
postponed indefinitely. For those disappointed, here's a little animation that I hope can make
today a little bit special anyway.

I suspect Shinji and his friends will choose to make their final resting place a beach like in
the original movie, but hopefully this time with the fellowship and security that has escaped
  them all these years.

The movie itself will probably suck, like the other Rebuilds generally have. But it's the last
endeavor for a group which has been remarkably consistent over some 25 years -- many of the same
storyboard and design artists, same voices, same producers, and same composer. Enough to make
  anyone a little wistful.

  The basis is this poster:

Right-click for music sauce, and a clue...

Who is the girl between Shinji and Asuka?
And I still didn't have time to fix flash on my computer, and ruffle couldn't play this one...

  >25 years of Evangelion
weren't they just rehashing and spit cleaning the story and not adding that much to it?

anyways this is a good flash

That's Mari, a mostly useless character. She was created to look sexy and sell merchandise.

Very well made flash friend. I love all the bits and pieces you threw in even though there was
  absolutely no reason to.

I should probably get around to watching the rebuilds someday, but I likely won't until there's a
  verdict on 3+1.

  >Evangelion movie
I had no idea, I never got why Evangelion was so popular to be honest but I was only like 20 when
I watched it, maybe you need to be 40 to get it so I should rewatch it soon.

  Comfy flash Anon!

Btw anyone else having their posts sometimes disappearing when you post using the "quick reply
javascript box" or whateverit is called? I had to rewrite this post because it wasn't added to
the thread even though it posted successfully. This time I'm using the form at the top of the
page and then it always works for me.

I like including those too; they're like little interactive rewards for people who play the flash
a lot to stumble upon. Or for those who wonder why a simple loop is 10 MB.
  >>3458487
That's right, there are several secrets -- you can see a secret ending, toggle the sfx, and
change the music. The right-click menu can give you a clue where to find the extra music.

Despite all the bits and bobs I hid, my favorite detail is the wave that passes over Mari's feet.

You need to be 13 to get it. If you watch it as an adult you will just spend the entire time
wondering just how small a budget it was made on.

  This.
If you've grown up on 80s anime there is little point to it.
It's the anime that defined an entirely new generation of 90s anime, so it was like the pride
flag of 90s kids that made them separate themselves from prior generations of anime.
You know, like Haruhi did with 2000s anime.

I wonder, what was that flagship anime for 2010 otakus? Maybe Madoka?

>> [_] Anonymous 01/24/21(Sun)12:20:02 No.3458517

  >>3458513
There was never really a proper "flagship" for 2010's anime, as nothing was nearly as impactful
as Hurrhi or Eva throughout the decade. I'd say Madoka, but it was really at the beginning of the
decade rather than into it like those were, and I cannot think of many if any series that really
had a massive enough impact to separate the 2010's crowd from the 00's crowd.

>> [_] Anonymous 01/24/21(Sun)12:56:22 No.3458523

  >>3458517
Yeah, I guess after 2010 the mainstreamification has already fucked the community beyond repair
with trying to keep up with the current season simulcasts on crunchyroll and forgetting the
hundreds of insignificant shows you watched instead of focusing the discussion on shows that
really stand out and stand the test of time.

Attention spans have just faded beyond return for something like a cultural anime of the decade
to form in everyone's collective minds when there's a million mediocre shows catering to your
every specific tastes (fetish) every season for you to watch at a flat rate.

The last time I saw any anime be that commonly adored by everyone in the still niche anime
  community was Code Geass.

>> [_] Anonymous 01/24/21(Sun)13:28:10 No.3458524

  >>3458523
Now, that's not to say that every show nowadays is mediocre. I'd say the larger issue is that
there's just an overabundance of anime in general and it's hard for anything to really stand out
among the crowd. Of course your generic shounen garbage tend to be relatively popular, but it's a
lot harder for anything meaningful to really grab people's attention without being made by a more
  well-known studio.

With that being said, I think there's still plenty of anime-original shows that have stood out
among others, nothing as terribly "artsy" as Evangelion or as much of a cultural touchstone as
Haruhi, but you still have your Kemono Friends, your Violet Evergardens, your Zombieland Sagas,
shows that stand out against the current despite it being easy to just go with the flow of anime
now. So I'd say the shows that'll stand the test of time are probably not the trainwrecks
everyone enjoyed together but the smaller, exciting simple shows people will have fond memories
  of.

the main two problems with modern anime is too much 3D animations that doesn't look good and the
addition of trannies for no reason. "this character acts like a girl, looks like a girl, is
voiced by an IRL girl, is treated like a girl by other characters, but it's totally a boy!!!"

>> [_] Anonymous 01/24/21(Sun)17:15:50 No.3458541

Yeah but traps were a thing long before modern """anime""". I mean, did you forget about Jun
Watarase and Hideyoshi? For that matter, fucking Bridget?
