[_] Anonymous 06/24/20(Wed)05:03:29 No.3432014
I can't believe it's almost over.
/f/ carries the soul of 4chan. How this site used to be before every board basically became /v/.
/f/ for me is the most 4chan-like board. It's frozen in time, in a way. Like a window to how this
site used to be.
I know /f/ is bascially already dead at this point. It won't be killed in december, it will be
put down. Hell, I barely even post anymore. But... still... it's a sad thing.
Marked for deletion (old).

What good is outmoding flash if 4chan won't enable audible .webms
I wish they would talk about sound on the administrative/moderation levels, otherwise
communication potential is stifled

Don't look to mods for that. First of all I doubt they remember /f/ exists. Second of all they
barely have any understanding of how the site works. Sometimes /g/ mods have fun messing with the
sticky (changing the OP image, etc.) and this may sound like a simple task but they fuck it up
nearly every time, with broken formatting and at one point even having trouble distinguishing the
difference between a png and gif. This is the technology board. I'd like to think that sort of
retardation is intentional but who knows, they seem to be incompetent at everything else.
Plus they're always able to get ahold of the developer for April Fools but apparently don't ever
want to talk with him when it comes to basic things like bump limits, sound webms, webp, and
anything else that people have been complaining about for years. They just don't care.

Sad.
What will happen to /f/? Has there been any plans? I have been saving many flashes I've found
along the way, as a memory.

I don't think so.
The quality and frequency of posts is on par with older times.
Not THAT high, but it could be way worse. You know, not the number of new threads or unique
visitors, but the feel. Feels pretty lively to me, unless the end of flash will really filter out
lots of unversed or uninterested users. It's actually ideal for me right now honestly and I would
love it continuing like this, being able to monitor 100% of all threads ever created.
Let's just hope they forget about it alltogether and not even bother any mods except for the case
where the board gets nuked. Then I expect /f/riends to write a salty complaint to the mods.

Noone knows. With Adobe ending life-support for the flash player plugin, it's everyone's guess
how gookmoot will react.

people seem to be too scared to ask hiro for a save, thinking he'll just delete the thing.
migrating to a smaller chan that has flash setup might be a thing.

This is exactly how I feel. /f/ is the only place that FEELS like 4chan anymore. Before the
entire internet became one big soup.
Perhaps it's because nobody bothers making shit in flash anymore, so we're stuck reposting the
same decades old shit over and over, but it feels nice.
When /f/ dies, and hiro doesn't do anything about it, because I doubt he'll even bother removing
it from the board listing, he'd most likely keep it open, but non-functional, I'll still come
back and just stare at the empty catalog sometimes.

catalog(.)neet(.)tv/f/ were how I usually browsed here, it's down now, will probably never come
back.
I might as well share some stuff with you all, back when I was in school, I would go to find some
music, and more often than not, I would find absolutely bangers, really helped my productivity,
and formed my music taste.
How long do you guys think 4chan will last, it's an open secret this place bleeds money, one day
it will shut down, what do you think this places legacy will be? I still hear people conflate
4chan with the dark net or as if the entire thing is /pol/.
Nazis, pedos, or master hackers seems to be the possible legacies.
All the fun, the friendships, the events, one day it will all be forgotten, only to be remembered
by a select few. I'm not sure I'm ready for that. Sure, old 4chan is gone, everyone is so serious
now, you can't even suggest a pizza place has children in the basement, without some /pol/tard
runs in, guns blazing.
Take a look at the old memes, before they were called memes, that shit doesn't happen any more,
not just here, but anywhere, everything needs a political slant, if "OVER 9000" happened today,
it would be because of a outrage that there was a mistranslation. Wojack is over 10 years old,
he's still being raped by every political factions there is, he started out as a "That feel guy",
I saw him a shitton in feels threads on /b/ back in the day, had nothing to do with Obama or
anything, just solidarity, ironically he's being used to divide people now.
I know this comes off as an "old guy doesn't like new stuff." or just being cringy, and I
apologize for that, I just don't want to lose this place, I'll miss this place, I'll miss you
guys.

Stop saying that it's going away BECAUSE YOU'RE MAKING IT SO.

4chan allows videos with sound on /gif/ and /wsg/. I think a few other boards as well. it's been
like that for many years.
flash is so much more than just moving images with sound, though.

I've also been saving flashes. We should do our best to post the best ones from over the years,
like we did last year leading up to dec 31
Btw I'm sure most of you know this but the flashplayer debugger plays swf files so if mods are
convinced /f/ is still relevant we might have a chance here

ha I remember /b/'s feel threads before they moved to /r9k/.
And yes it seems as if /f/ and /s4s/ really are now the closest to what everything on here was
like 15 years ago. What matters though is the moments you had here, anon

I have considered making a YouTube channel and uploading footage of all the (YouTube-safe)
flashes I've collected throughout the years.
I'd upload the spicy ones to Bitchute and the pornographic ones to a porn site.
For perspective, as of right now, I have 2,269 flashes saved with a grand total of 10.4 GB of
data (not including the NSFW folder).
I'm sure some NSFW or duplicates have been mixed in that I'd have to move/delete but I figure
it'd be good to have an archive that would preserve all the different filenames (and associated
in-jokes) without needing to rely on sfwchan.
>> [_] Anonymous 06/25/20(Thu)03:41:14 No.3432107
>>3432106
Also I'd want to include data like "first posted on xx/xx/xxxx" or the alternative bait & switch
filenames.
For stuff like Daily Dose I could just censor the naughty bits and upload the normal version to a
porn site.
