so I've tried downloading a swf file player, but i'm still getting the little link about the EOL
of flash. Can someone please point me to a swf player that actually works?

This didn't work for me for some reason, in IE 11 I got a x in the window and even mpc just
showed that stupid F(i) window. I downgraded back to IE 8 and flash plays fine. I guess IE 8 is
my new swf player.
