I use Edge to browse and IE 8 just for swf. >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)12:10:52 No.3458212 >>3458188 So it can basically only play content from the very very early 2000s? >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)16:23:49 No.3458247 >>3458212 it depends on the complexity of the flash, but for a good portion of them yes, probably simple video, will work simple loop, will most likely work advanced loop, unlikely to work or broken elements interactive flash or game, will never work maybe >> [_] ta-kun 01/21/21(Thu)16:25:51 No.3458250 apparently I never updated flash, because I can play them locally >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)17:50:15 No.3458267 >>3458166 Download and install flash 32.0.0.645, find mms.cfg file, open with notepad, clear everything and paste this: AutoUpdateDisable=1 EOLUninstallDisable=1 SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0 DisableDeviceFontEnumeration=1 AllowListPreview=1 TraceOutputEcho=1 EnableAllowList=1 EnableInsecureAllowListLocalPathMatching=1 AllowListRootMovieOnly=0 AllowListUrlPattern=file:* save and quit, enjoy. >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)19:40:49 No.3458285 >>3458166 >tfw this Flash is now more relevant than ever. >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)23:24:59 No.3458304 >>3458191 Plenty of ActionScript 2 flashes out there, maybe even more than AS3 flashes. >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)23:48:16 No.3458308 >>3458166 There Needs to be a patch for linux x86 and x64 machines and the manual way doesn't yield me the folders i'm looking for. you lucky windows users got this automated patch already though. Fuck you guys. https://github.com/KuromeSan/FlashPatcher >> [_] Anonymous 01/21/21(Thu)23:49:57 No.3458309 Wait.Linuxbros we're saved. https://github.com/darktohka/FlashPatch >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)00:59:16 No.3458322 I use Ruffle.rs https://ruffle.rs/ 4chan's archive page and Newgrounds use it for flash content. The only problem is it barely supports Action Script 3. So a lot of newer flashes wont run or run with limited functionality. They're currently working on improving it, but it seems to be the best replacement to adobe. I couldn't manage to get the extension to work in Chrome, but I got the desktop player to work. And I just set windows to open .swf files in Ruffle and I can download and run them instantly. In my stash thats about 5ish years old, i'd say it probably runs about 65-70% of my collection. Older classic flashes and simpler videos more likely to work. >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)01:17:58 No.3458323 >>3458322 Going through more of my collection I rescind my earlier estimate. It's about 50-50% on wether it works or not. I'd say 50% works, 25% Sound only/missing functionality, 25% not at all. >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)01:25:24 No.3458324 >>3458309 but says that you need to run the program on windows to patch your linux files (which you're supposed to copy over from linux and then copy back the patched version). so it's basically the same as >>3458308 >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)01:27:34 No.3458325 >>3458323 if you don't play the files in your browser you might as well use adobe's flash projector. ruffle has no support for actionscript 3 and likely the files you think it can handle it will display incorrectly. for example, ruffle will not display any glow effect. >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)04:25:31 No.3458334 I just want to mention that I think the beat pattern for the carol of the bells in this thing is really well done. It honestly feels a little bit wasted on this. >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)04:35:22 No.3458335 >>3458334 don't be a flashist >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)04:59:26 No.3458336 I've been fine using the flashplayer standalone projector. >> [_] Anonymous 01/22/21(Fri)08:21:58 No.3458343 Anybody have any idea how to play old swf files that were disabled around flash 10? I tried to find an early standalone but could only find renamed viruses. |
