  i've always avoided ' or , in filenames since /f/ renames those

  for example "Time's-a-passin'.swf" becomes "Time's-a-passin'.swf"
  >meanwhile /f/ allows filesnames with questionmarks in them

  other boards gets a random number for their files. (probably database ID/key number)

  it's not the post number if that's what you think

  seems like it's the Epoch millisecond (Unix timestamp), would have been my third guess. guess
  that explains why sometimes a thumbnail gets the wrong image, two people make the post at the
  same time and 4chan just overwrites one of the images.

  Personally I wish there was an option of what Plugin you wanted to use. H-Flash has their own
  player too but they also have an option selection of whether you want to use their player,
  Ruffle, Newgrounds, or your own browser player. I got a browser with flash player that still
  works and so an option for that would be really nice.
