[_] Anon 3453189 /f/ isn't going anywhere! The devs are watching the progress of the Newgrounds-backed flash emulator Ruffle (https://ruffle.rs). If everything works out, this will eventually let /f/ continue to host flash content, regardless of your browser's flash support. You can follow the progress of it here: https://ruffle.rs/#compatibility As you can see, the more common AS3 API will take some time to complete. In the meantime, /f/ will remain untouched. Ruffle has already been implemented on the archive (https://4chan.org/flash) with some success. When it's ready, /f/ will be back up to full speed. Marked for deletion (old).

>> [_] Anon 3453330 >># This is the real news. Seeing that OP is entirely focused on the shitty ruffle garbage shows that even on this board the focus is slowely shifting towards pleb newfag phoneposters. I mean, do you seriously consider yourself a denizen of the /f/lash board when you are not even able to follow the 3 necessary steps required to continue being able to use flash in browser? I fear the day when people using actual flash are not welcome anymore on this board... Do you suck your Mozilla or Google overlords dicks so hard you aren't even willing to use a standalone browser to have a true flash experience not hampered by needing to download files or broken actionscript?
>> [_] Anon 3453332 Well, as happy as I am of hearing /f/ isn't going to die. The fact most stuff that did make /f/ lively are pretty much already dying as well makes it a bittersweet feeling. Vocaloid and touhou are far from the glory days, even if /f/ survives, what's in store for it? Reliving the good old days forever?
>> [_] Anon 3453337 >># >Reliving the good old days forever? That actually doesnt sound so bad once you consider the alternatives
>> [_] Anon 3453339 >># >Do you suck your Mozilla or Google overlords dicks so hard Ironic as one of the reasons no one wanted flash to keep going was exactly the fact HTML5 was an open standard and Flash was Adobe property, self conscious much?
>> [_] Anon 3453344 Ruffle is garbage and will stay garbage. As long as there's one flash file it can't play it will never be an alternative. Where's the faggot who posted that screenshot of the software he was working on with the Cirno that would freeze the killswitch?
>> [_] Anon 3453347 >># artist for that is minus8/chtkghk8 btw
>> [_] Anon 3453349 >># True, Adobe is and always has been a piece of shit. They could have easily made swf opensource if they wanted, which they didn't, because the entire point is ridding flash of the internet and not just "moving on". Still, this is /f/lash, so who are you going to allign with? The company who bought and kept flash going or the ones trying to rid it off the face of the earth. I'd rather suck the foremost's coorporate dick and not just let any of those 3 decide that I cannot have flash any longer. You can say what you want, flash would not have been a thing if it wasn't for Agaybe. >># link please my /f/riend, to sauce or post
>> [_] Anon 3453355 >># >># >># >># Guys! Please stop fightng. This is the last day of Flash. Can't we all just get along? At least for today?
>> [_] Anon 3453357 >sticky on /f/ I was part of history.
>> [_] Anon 3453358 >># what's wrong with downloading files? also http://flashplayer.fullstacks.net/
>> [_] Anon 3453359 Go on youtube and type in ''Animated SVG's'' and look at how pathetic that shit is, a lot of the retards are telling you to do the svg transforms in the web markup. Complete joke and utter degradation. Adobe is to blame for completely squandering the Macromedia Suite. Flash, Director (responsible for 3D shockwave games), Dreamweaver and Fireworks were propper multimedia studios, and now that they're gone, WE'RE BACK TO DOING BASIC SHIT WITH MARKUP
>> [_] Anon 3453362 >># Anyone willing to give me the exact steps on what to do with mms.cfg to keep using Flash?
>> [_] Anon 3453365 There are some heroes left in man.

>> [_] Anon 3453368 >># asshole scented flowers
>> [_] Anon 3453369 It's all gonna be absolutely daijoubu, fellas. Just have a little patience.
>> [_] Anon 3453371 Amazing stuff! I was actually stressed about this, but now I feel relaxed. After the novelty of flash end of life wears off, newfags will probably return to their containment boards and everything will be back to normal.
>> [_] Anon 3453372 >># Posting in the double sticky. I love you /f/aggots
>> [_] Anon 3453374 >># It's a damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we do nothing, flash and /f/ dies. But your warning of making it easier for phone posting normalfags to use flash is a problem since they're easily shit up /f/.
>> [_] Anon 3453375 >># I've played literally hundreds of flash games, seeing attempts to keep it alive even if most development of most games ceased is weirdly heartwarming, I've accepted the death of Flash and the resulting decay of indies (People jumping from Flash to proper game-making engines and then making poor monetized videogames with them) but this sort of effort is nice to see

>> [_] Anon 3453384 I'm a newfag to this board, been here since about the beginning of the year but it's easily become my favorite board. I have some experience with animating in flash and now that /f/ isn't gonna die, I want to try and start making some flashes. I love you guys, /f/ will never die :)
>> [_] Anon 3453386 >># From memory: >Look for mms.cfg in your flash folder or create it (as an empty txt file renamed) >folder is in windows/system32/macromed/... and on 64bit additionally in windows/syswow64/macromed/..., where all the plugin dll files are >open with editor and add EnableAllowList=1 AllowListUrlPattern=*.boards.4chan.org:* and one similar for all other domains you want flash on, also add one for local files AllowListUrlPattern=file:///* AllowListUrlPattern=blob:* >if you're there might as well add SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0 EOLUninstallDisable=1 >save and exit, restart your browser should work now, but there are some knows bugs like files including a "[" for some reason also you need to have a browser which still supports plugins all major browsers decided to NOT do that, so go look for something smaller, also there needs to be some flashplayer plugin for it obviously, currently only for firefox-esque and chrome-ium type browsers or microcucks standalone palemoon is excellent for that, it's just an exe you open which works with the NPAPI plugin just copy the flashplayer dll from the adobe folder to some "plugins" folder inside the palemoon folder and you're done tl;dr: have plugin-browser, have plugin installed, have whitelist enabled and domains added

>> [_] ta-kun 3453691 http://boards.swfchan.net/21088/ If anybody is interested I uploaded the swf directly to swfchan because it was too big, the swf is in higher quality than the mp4 because this was made natively in flash. Hope you like it.

>> [_] Anon 3453696 >># >but i rarely see that and i cant really say i've seen stuff from reddit or discord In restrictions, you find freedom. You basically have to make stuff some scratch on /f/, so the average normalfag can't just make another pepe or wojak and force it here. EOLUninstallDisable=1 only prevents the nag window that appears every now and then where Adobe asks you if you want to uninstall flash. the flash plugin can't be stopped from disabling itself and you must edit the config every single time you want to view flash on another site. don't ask me why Adobe have made it impossible to just disable the whitelist completely.

I mean the plugin COULD have looked ahead a couple of frames, noticed that it will soon jump to a different frame and then buffer what's needed at that frame for a seamless experience. But Adobe never did that improvement, the flash plugin still is surprised that it is supposed to jump to somewhere else and then there's a glitch in the audio. Likewise they could have added default rendering with graphics cards on platforms that support it and for the format itself they could have made improved shadow tools (gradients that follow the shapes they are inside for example) but Adobe never did any of that.

Like you could cook an Indian meal with a *ton* of spices but it will still taste a bit bland without salt. Adding just a little salt doesn't make the dish taste salty, it just brings all the other spices to the forefront. Likewise cinnamon by itself is kind of bitter, but adding some cinnamon to something already a bit sweet will really pull out the sweetness. Actually you've got me curious enough to do a bit of research. >> [_] æ !Dd7n98Z5E6 3455036 Rock on, /f/! Well, between the mms.cfg and projector.exe I think there is enough room to continue to use flash. For the few sites like /f/ where you watch hundreds of flashes use AllowList [previously known as White(tm)list]. If you stumble across a swf somewhere else and don't want to add it to the list, just download it and play it locally with the projector. The biggest problem is the bug with the brackes in filename. Maybe /f/ could be made so it sanitizes files and filters those characters from the filename? There are a lot of files with [] in the filename as it was used for tags in the past. Some useful addons to the WhiteList: >SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0 Maybe Adobe releases a patch later to completely fuck up flash. This prevents any further installs behind your back. >EOLUninstallDisable=1 Removes the nag. AllowListRootMovieOnly=1 Makes it so files loaded by an already approved swf are automatically whitelisted. >AllowListUrlPattern=file:* >AllowListUrlPattern=file:///C:/*/*.* I think this is what made me able to play all local files. >AllowListUrlPattern=*://*.website.com Pattern for all websites to be whitelisted. This is as broad as it gets, you need one domain and top level domain per entry. >># The FlashUtil (pepper because you use chrome I guess) is the thing that checks and updates the plugin, so obviously it would be used to also remove it. >> [_] Anon 3455131 >># It's an easy fix, but I can try to explain better. 4chanX (and probably other extensions) have a feature to embed swfs right on the page. This doesn't work with Ruffle because the swfs are on a different domain (i.4cdn.org) than the page they're being embedded on (boards.4chan.org). It's a security feature that the old flash player wasn't subject to because it technically wasn't part of the browser, being a plugin. But Ruffle uses standard AJAX and runs as a script on the page itself, so trying to request data from i.4cdn.org will be blocked. The fix, as mentioned in the mozilla link is to have i.4cdn.org send the header "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *" or at least "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: https://boards.4chan.org".
