[_] something is very wrong need help Anon 3485685 I'm not sure what caused this, but when i try to play a flash file from my computer using the standalone player or debug player v 25 26 27, all i get is a screen like this https://files.catbox.moe/0bpi70.PNG Kinda panicing right now. It's not a lot compared to some, but I would be heartbroken it if my 4 gig collection was corrupted somehow.
>> [_] Anon 3485686 thinking on it, the files aren't corrupted since this posted fine. The music comes through as well on that monocolor screen. kinda calming down
>> [_] Anon 3485687 did you try turning it off and on :^)
>> [_] Anon 3485688 >># In my experience some swf files are having trouble playing on the debug thing. I don't know why but the files are not corrupted.
>> [_] Anon 3485690 >># :^) >># its not just some, its all of my files, out of nowhere. I did just update my graphics drivers, maybe its that?
>> [_] Anon 3485694 >># Could be, maybe try rolling back. On another note, why not use the latest projector? Maybe v32 will work? The flash you posted is working fine.
>> [_] Anon 3485735 I don't think this has to do with the actual swf files. Or even a flash installation. The debug player should work as a one file executable. Have you tried using the last version of the projector that was released? It might just be a version difference problem. If OP isn't aware of this problem let me elaborate. Maybe it has to do with this: Idk if this also relates to the projector, maybe only the plugin. During the later versions of the plugin and more modern browsers (firefox back then) the INITIAL drawing of the canvas seems to be broken when there is no moving part. That means that if the flash loads a single static image and then doesn't update the screen, it will display a blank white screen. Only when a part of this screen gets updated then this part will display. You can force that by zooming in and out, it should then display the screen fine. There was a browser setting to fix this, I think it has to do with 32/64 bit differences. In this case though I don't think it's that, because the flash OP posted is a bunch of bitmaps which should instantly update the screen as soon as the flash starts playing. >># Yeah, it sounds like a graphics problem. But flash normally doesn't the graphics card. It just uses the processor. Maybe the processor isn't strong enough to run the flash? You could also check if you have hardware acceleration turned on in flash settings. That makes it use the graphics card and maybe the new driver broke something. Actually the first thing I'd recommend if you haven't already is rebooting the PC (>>#). Don't forget that turning off and on isn't the same as selecting "reboot", because UEFI.

>> [_] Anon 3425084 >># nice improvements only if you could work on that audio so it loops seamlessly
>> [_] Anon 3425085 Do you use Gimp? Here's a tip to get rid of the rough edges on transparent images >Layer->Transparency->Alpha to Selection >Select-?Shrink->1px >CTRL+I >Filters->Blur->Gaussian Blur (you can adjust the size of it however you'd like; usually anywhere from .5-1.0 is fine) >??? >profit!
>> [_] Anon 3425088 >># I'll be sure to fix that at some point. >># Fuck yeah, screenshotted for the next time I do this. Thank you both!
>> [_] Anon 3425091 >># Consider using a 'mask' to hide discrepancies such as the edges of the rotating background and the bottom of the character. Make it the same color as the scene background to make it seamless.
>> [_] Anon 3425113 Still doesn't loop. I think it's because the sound is set to play at the first frame and is pretty much exactly long enough to play during 1 loop. If the loop gets desynced by like right clicking for some time or tabbing out, then it waits for the image to rotate back to where it started and starts playing again. I think that shouldn't happen with a regular sound set to loop. Consider using actionscript to make the loop. Put this on the first frame: import flash.media.Sound; var sound:Sound = new Sound(); sound.play(0,int.MAX_VALUE); Don't forget to export your mp3 to Actionscript and give that the name "Sound".
>> [_] :v 3425114 Audio tips: Stay away from mp3 16bit wav is good Find something you can add a couple ms of crossfade with. oh and trim your stage to fit for neatness. Happy to see more peeps :D
>> [_] Anon 3425119 >># >Stay away from mp3 >16bit wav is good To clarify why -- If you're importing into Flash as WAV and exporting to MP3 that's fine. Don't worry about having a really high bitrate, I think most people here prefer smaller files anyway (4chan's limit is ~10 MB). If you import an MP3 file that's meant to loop, what's going to happen is that there'll be an quick but audible pause between the end of the audio file and the restart. This is because an MP3 created in Audacity or whatever adds a few milliseconds of blank information at the very beginning of playback to store some non-audio data. WAV doesn't do this, and exporting an MP3 thru Flash doesn't do this. You added the audio to the timeline this time, but the way you did it might still cause some problems. The audio layer doesn't have to stretch the whole length of the timeline; storing it only in one frame is enough, and then it can run independent of the picture and not have the sync problems your current flashes have. I recommend checking out other people's simple loops and decompiling them. JPEXS gives you the option to export a .swf to .fla, which you can open in Flash and see how it was originally set up in the timeline.
>> [_] :v 3425121 >># Yea what they said

>> [_] Anon 3425140 cute
>> [_] Anon 3425143 >># >># >># I really really appreciate the advice, thank you! >># I was already under the assumption that swfchan archives my flashes, so no big deal.
>> [_] Anon 3425146 >># so after that awkward first moment of silence, it seems to loop just fine. odd
>> [_] Anon 3425148 >># cute!!!
>> [_] Anon 3425149 >># so launching it locally in projector 30, works seamless. and is it not what really matters
>> [_] Anon 3425152 >># Flash doesn't play wav, any input is automatically converted to MP3 internally. That being said, babby's next steps are to learn how to craft a nice WAV loop in his favorite editor. Anything from Soundforge to Audacity will work well. NIce first steps OP, keep at it. The looping may suck, but it's a good flash. Looking forward to a proper v2.
>> [_] Anon 3425156 Can you post the .fla file somewhere? If it's just meant to loop, put it on the first frame, and set it to loop. There should be few frames in the main timeline, if you want it to start playing often. Currently, it loops with a big delay after playing.
>> [_] Anon 3425171 >># Song sauce?
>> [_] Azotansodu 3425173 resize it, it's on the bottom
