I'm looking to make a flash, but don't want to give adobe money. Flashdevelop looks good, but
having difficulty getting flex SDK installed.
What swf authoring tools do you use?

There are old portable flash 8 downloads available everywhere. The old one from 2005. There was a
link with all the versions in one webpage, I couldn't find it again. Maybe someone has it. But
you can find the classic Flash8 Professional out there easy.

Photoshop still is Adobes's main software. It makes sense for them to protect that IP. But the
flash software, that's dead and buried. Ages ago already.

The tech you're mentioning is for creating actionscript 3 flashes, whereas Adobe Flash is the
vector art program.
I never got into Flashdevelop, so I can't advise about it or getting Flex to work with it, but
Flex should just be a zip download. The "installer" does not work because some of the files it's
trying to download have been gone from the Internet for years.

This tutorial focuses on getting what's needed to compile a Realm of the Mad God client, but you
don't need flex 4.9.1 or playerglobal 18.0, so you can ignore much of it.

XenForo sucks too hard and so does our lovely admin for choosing that forum software and being

Yeah that's the one. Shit, I can't believe they did that. It's like a dystopian nightmare. I
would understand going after CS6, or even CS5... but ancient forgotten software from 2005 and
earlier? It all proves what I think, that killing Flash was a deliberate action by the whole
industry adobe included to establish a new global subscription system like steam and others. They
don't want rogue players, not a single one it seems.
