Most of the flashes embedded are now just a white screen
Marked for deletion (old).
>> [_] Anonymous 09/14/24(Sat)03:49:35 No.3512419
seems so
>> [_] Anonymous 09/14/24(Sat)10:45:48 No.3512425
It's 4chan's fault
It seems like they tried to update ruffle but fucked something up and now the flashes don't get
embedded
Standalone ruffle still works with standalone flashes

It doesn't seem like they were even trying to update Ruffle, the version served is still commit
7c280fc1716a98b400da96e28195bdebaad669d9 from upstream and has been for months.
It looks like they fucked something with their CORS headers, i.4cdn.org only has boards.4chan.org
in it's allow list but they were trying to pull swfs from s.4cdn.org so the browser makes the
request fail.
Could be they were just locking down CORS and forgot they made their Ruffle embed page be hosted
from s.4cdn.org instead of the board page.
All they should need to do is add s.4cdn.org to the allow list, wonder what's taking them so long.

that sounds wrong, unless there's some added features in ruffle's player? like for example
extracting audio/images or modify variables to cheat in games. is there such extra features in
ruffles standalone player? if not you might as well just use adobe's original player
>> [_] Anonymous 09/14/24(Sat)17:37:22 No.3512441
>>3512440
although i guess if ruffle's standalone player uses the graphics card to render blur effects etc
it could be worth it. adobe's player is cpu so such effects are very slow in large resolutions.
and i think there's some kind of render cap, if you have a 4K monitor and try to view a flash in
fullscreen it could sometimes unfortunately only render half the screen.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/14/24(Sat)19:56:41 No.3512442
Posted on the other thread but you can get around this by installing CORS Everywhere or similar
extension.
Ofc running such extension is a fucking bad idea but flashes are more important than basic safety.

It has purpose for potentially less shitty os', who only had lightspark and gnash before then.
This will likely be more true in the future, as ruffle effectively futureports flash to any os
that handles rust.

theres a setting in the plugin settings to ignore that, and just run anyway.

>muh on-site javascript is sooo secure
Get a a grip.
You don't even install the flash plugin. It is literally a file you copy into some browser
directory.
I'd rather the flash plugin than some random ass javascript or god forsaken js forcing ruffle
addon.
This is why you use a scriptblocker and turn on a whitelist for flash. You cannot get a more
secure /f/ experience.

Fuck that, I ain't "installing" shit. My browser is CLEAN of any cookies, or plug ins of any
sort. 4chan is supposed to be a totally disconnected site from other third party platform's ID
cookies and shit. This is outrageous. They are trying to take down 4chan now? I Guess it is time
to go off the grid for good. Nukes are around the corner anyways.
Fuck y'all, fuck this stupid shitty world full of FAGGOTS.

>4chan is supposed to be a totally disconnected site from other third party platform's ID cookies

You mean, apart from the tons of javascript from the 4chan inline extension and 3rd party ruffle
JS code everytime you open a flash? /f/ has been mandatory usage of a third party plugin since
its inception.

Honorable mention:
swfchan.com/end
You don't even need an old(er) version.
Just swap out the plugin file for the swfchan one or hex edit it yourself (if you're paranoid).
