I'm trying to fathom how terrible that would be. Left to walk the surface of an airless
wasteland. Hauling a person in a constrictive suit. Slowly losing what oxygen is remaining. For
the most part, all alone with your thoughts of impending asphyxiation.
  Nope, can't do it.

>> [_] Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)08:20 No.1259773

carrying the person would make little difference due to the weightlessness of space maybe?

>> [_] Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)08:33 No.1259774

its not weightless on the moon, as it has its own gravity.

its much less than the earth's gravity though.

  >weightlessness of space
It's not open space but moon, g = 1.62 (use wiki)
Consider man's mass 80 kg, and suit's - 120 kg (use google). So their summary mass is 400 kg.
  P = 400 * 1.62 = 648 newtons.
  Mass for the same weight on earth: m = 648 / 9.81 = 66 kg
So for you with own mass of 66kg to walk on earth it is the same as for that man to walk on moon
  and carry his comrad.

Weakened muscles of astronauts spending their whole time in zero-G, hmm?

>> [_] Anonymous 05/12/10(Wed)10:54 No.1259826

At the five minute mark I'd take a look around me, sit down and think some deep thoughts. Make my
peace with god. at one minute I'd let it all out.

  Strapped down on exercising machines.
  Weighted exercising equipment.
Weighted suits for general living to attempt to simulate regular weight.
Compression belts for lungs to exercise them.
Restriction suits that have springs to limit your movement unless you really try.
Of course, using restriction suits won't be good to wear if you are doing experiments.

The weighted parts can be done using the materials from the planet they are to save having to
carry the weight to space in the first place.
