Drugs are kind of taboo in the eastern north american hardcore scene. They're more or less
responsible for the collapse of the rave scene in 2001-2002 as all these kids just showed up to
do drugs and didn't give a shit about the music.
As a result of this promoters just said "fuck it! I'm liable for these douches when they have a
seizure and I need to call an ambulance." so they more or less just threw in the towel.
Slowly we got a semblance of a rave scene back and all that was left was people dedicated to the
music. Drugs, yes, still exist - but it's way, way more minor than it is. Alcohol is, by far, the
most consumed drug at an eastern NA rave.
