Circular logic is not proof. In fact it weighs more heavily in favor of a counter argument.
Saying that God wrote the bible, and the bible proves there is a God is not proof.

So. Archdeacon of the Roman Catholic church here. Just figured I'd set you straight on that one,
although I usually avoid these threads.

The holy bible was not written solely by Paul. Portions of it were written by Paul. Portions of
it were also written by the other Apostles, as well as a number of uncredited authors, and none
of the actual text was penned by God himself save for the Ten commandments of the first great
covenant. That includes Revelations. In fact, we're still not entirely sure that Revelations was
written by an apostle at all.

Regardless, the bible was written by man, THROUGH the holy influence of God. It was not written
directly through God, as evidenced by the nature of the text itself.

As I noted before, and as is noted in the Catechisms, canon law states that the ONLY portion of
the bible directly penned by the Lord himself are the ten commandments.

>> [_] Anonymous 07/20/10(Tue)11:29 No.1323438

  >>1323436
so, if you choose to disregard the rest of it, which I consider to be just as foolish as
disregarding ANY penned warning of ANY kind... that's ultimately your decision.

But keep in mind that those ten lines of text I mentioned... THOSE are God talking directly to
  you.

The rest of them are God sending someone else to give you a message. You might want to take it
with a grain of salt... but it might not hurt you to listen.

  ultimate argument:
  Assumptions:
  1) God is all good
  2) God is all knowing
  3) God is all powerful
  4) there is evil in the world

  Argument:
  A) If god is (2) all knowing, and there is (4) evil in the world, then god know that there is
  evil.
  B) If god is (1) all good, then god would not allow there to be (4) evil in the world
  C) If god is (3) all powerful, then he could stop the (4) evil in the world
  D) By (A and B and C) there is (4) evil in the world then (2) God is all good must be false
  E) if (2) god is all good then (A and B and C) or (A and false and C) must be false, therefore
god must either not be all powerful, all knowing or all good

though there's obviously no place for science or reason...

This is funny, and sounds reasonable, but it overlooks the fact that 'cold' and 'darkness' are in
fact synonyms to "absence of heat/light".. "Evil" as they call it is not exactly a synonym of
absence of good. Evil can be studied and observed. Also, evil can not be measured like
temperature or light intensity. Therefor the laws of physics/science will never call evil the
  absence of good..

I hope you know how retarded that sounds. His argument, and the video in youtube use REASONING.
Science is about empirical evidence and the conclusion you can draw from that data, so unless you
happen to have a study providing evidence for the non existence of evil, you can eat a dick.

I know. But evil also cannot be studied because it's an opinion. What's evil to one person is not
necessarily evil to another. People don't do something they view as wrong without being forced.
In order for someone to willingly do something they must believe to themselves that they're doing
what's right. Thus, to them, they are not evil.

There are some who really are as Christian as the person talking in this flash. The flash
humorously highlights some of his talk, much like other theory-parody flashes. It is not uncommon
for a "serious" speaker to be put in a flash like this. If the speaker happens to be fake, then
  it would be a hyperbole.

#1 - You got it, so I'm not talking about you, am I?
  #2 - And mine's a jew, good for you.
#3 - Agnostic is a sub-group of atheist. If you don't officially acknowledge a diety of your own,
you're an atheist. What you call an agnostic is what some call a weak atheist. It's not really up
  for debate, it's the definition.

  >>1323512
It's his manner of speaking, he's clearly being sarcastic. Serious speakers on the matter tend to
be either aggressive, know-it-all, or kinda space-casey.
  >Also your post implies every atheist is a converted christian/monotheist .. personal experiences
"Every"? No. "Most"? In my experience, yes. All but one of the atheists I've known personally
started out with a religious affiliation, including myself. I became an atheist when I was 9, and
actually believed in Santa longer than God, because at least there was some level of evidence for
  santa. Those crafty parents.

  atheism:
Disbelief in, or denial of, the existence of a god.

  deny:
To contradict or gainsay (anything stated or alleged); to declare to be untrue or untenable, or
not what it is stated to be.

  untenable:
not able to be maintained or defended against

  theism:
Belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in a personal God as creator and
  ruler of the world

  a- prefix:
  without

Atheism is, when deconstructed, a very broad term. The original definition has been altered
overtime to define the unreasonable strong atheists by a rather overwhelming popular opinion that
there's no middle ground. Either you worship my God or you're an ATHEIST who DENIES His divinity.
Politics and common use have tainted its meaning, but its original meaning is regaining
  popularity.
