[_] [G] QUESTAN' TIME Version 1.7 hotfixed Anonymous 09/17/10(Fri)17:04 No.1376016
Sorry guys, there was a bug left in that I didn't notice at first leading you to lose gold in
town. This is a fix for it. Your suggestions have been taken into account.
Short changelog:
1.7 changed gold, exp mechanics; learning should affect game less, cha and sixth sense moar
1.1-1.6
non-magic user classes rebalanced
mount system fixed; mounts now give +str
new weapons for weapon users of both kinds, tiers up to 24 and 28 from 16
rangers and archs are now close-range fighters
cowboys are now long-range fighters
bards are now weak magic-users with their own set of rules
ton of bugfixes
stuff I forget etc. etc.
Marked for deletion (old).

As for the guy who was asking whether characters carry over: yes, they do without problems.
However, they won't benefit from any changes retroactively, only as they level up.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/17/10(Fri)17:08 No.1376019
So for the next version I could make it so that you can't overshoot the end into undefined
territory. That would mean cheaters insta-win though.

At best that would only shorten the trip back to survivable zones for accidental cases like
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/5208/necromancer01undefined.png; I don't think it fixes that
problem well enough to give cheaters a "win the game" button.
But those are just my two cents.

No, the other approach is to make quests avoid giving tasks to hunt rare monsters by making
monster arrays smaller. It's more work but I'll look into it.
Also, possibly more monster mechanics like individual monsters.

The game's system of dodging is so ridiculous characters really do need that much dexterity later

Although come to think of it, maybe I should have fixed the dodging system instead of giving them
large dex gains

Spell guide for versions 1.0 through 1.5
Enlarge Muscles: Passive +Str equal to spell level
Resistance: Passive +Con equal to spell level
Quicken: Passive +Dex equal to spell level
Hypnosis: Passive +Cha equal to spell level
Concentration: Passive +Int equal to spell level
Forseeing: Passive +Wis equal to spell level
Fireball: High damage, damage depends on Int and spell level
Heal: Straight-up heal, heal may depend on Int, definitely depends on spell level
Poison: Med damage plus Damage-Over-Time, damage may depend on Int, definitely depends on spell
level, Damage-Over-Time does not change with Int, changes with spell level.
Ice Arrow: Small damage, also slows enemy attack speed, damage/slow may depend on Int, damage
increases with spell level, current observation says slow likely also increases with spell level.

Sixth Sense: Increased item(LOOT, NOT QUEST) drop rate; XXX seems to be either 100% drop or so
near it you might as well call it that.
Learning: Increaed exp, further increased with spell level.
Teleportation: Increased travel speed; Teleportation II is twice as fast as no Teleportation at
all, Teleportation L gives you barely enough time to read where you're traveling to,
Teleportation CCL barely lets you see the travel meter.
Regeneration: Passive HP regen in battle, HP restored with each pulse is equal to spell level.

I believe the reason they are getting worse gear is because they aren't going back to town as

back less that's worse upgrades.

Not the first time this has been brought to my attention. I haven't had the time to test
everything, so I've mostly been running Knights and Paladins to test. All fighter characters have
received the same mathematical transformations designed to bring out even more what the game's
original creator intended to be their strengths, and to compensate for the shitty to-hit
algorithm. For the rogue, that just means insane amounts of dex. If you guys feel he's
overpowered, I'll nerf him next version, though.

All characters get Weapon and Armour equipment slots.
Knights, Paladins and Cowboys get a bonus slot for mounts, which in v1.0 give extra HP but is
bugged so they lose it every time they level up, and in the 4chan rebalance they give +str and
+con
Rangers, Rogues and Archeologists get a bonus slot for ammo, which gives +dex
Bards get a bonus slot for instruments, which give +cha and in the 4chan rebalance gives them +1
spell level each time one is purchased
Necromancers, Wizards and Priests get a bonus slot for spellbooks, which cost roughly 1k-2k gold
and will give a number of spell levels each time one is purchased.

Each class and each race have their own growth rate for stats, but getting into that would be a
bit too spoilery; just experiment and see for yourself. A word of warning, though: Hobbit Knights
are complete shit and will sit there dying over and over again just trying to complete their
first quest; basically use common sense when you're choosing your race/class combo and don't try
to be too "lol i play d&d i want a half orc wizard because they break the mould" because some
shit just does not work.

Some very rough landmarks for your progress are the Graveyard (8%), Oasis (15%), Battlefield
(30%) and Demonic Fortress (45%). The Castle and the Frozen Throne are about halfway through the
game. From there you're cast into "Nowhere", which is apparently outer space, as your next visit
is an alien planet complete with insanely tough Aliens. From there you travel to "Somewhere".
Then you start traversing all kinds of magical places, eventually descending into hell. When
you've finished Maladomini and Nessus, you arrive in The Silver Gazebo. Complete the quests
there, and you'll reach The End.
Warning: the previous post may contain spoilers.
