The idea is actually a fairly good one, but I think the main problem would be the floating of the
"islands". Say you want to go travel... You'd pretty much be fucked. If it's only 1km wide (or
was that the radius?), that's not a whole lot of room for people to go in and out. Helicopter to
go from island to island, but if you're floating in the middle of the sea, a helicopter isn't
going to get you far.
Besides, flowing with the currents would take you north and south, wouldn't it? There'd have to
be something that would lock it in a somewhat "regional" area.
