In 2009, when I was 20 years old, I put the barrel of a shotgun in my mouth and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. Of all the things going through my mind at the moment, none of it was lead. The most prominent thought was the supreme regret of having made an irreversable decision as the hammer struck the firing pin. Nothing happened. I spend the rest of the day refreshing this flash after the song ended. Three months later, I took that same shell to the range and fired it without any problem. Why was I spared? Why am I here?
