The problem is that the helicopter's image is rectangular and also contains the see-through space that is under the tail, and right below the cockpit. So if you were to put the helicopter in a position like this TH XH XX (Where the Hs are the cockpit and rotor blades of the helicopter, T is the tail, and X is the ground) That would register as a hit even though what we can see of the helicopter isn't overlapping the ground, because the rectangle that contains the helicopter has overlapped with the ground.
