Use the buttons to change the Scale Modes, and resize the window to see changes in graphics. Please refer to the questions in the reply area below. All /f/ users' input and opinions are welcome. Please note if you are a flash developer of any skill level, or if you are mostly an end-user, all opinions are welcome. Thanks for the assistance. >> [_] OPhere !m0tU7/xWoM 1306960 What scale modes or window sizes are BEST for... ...Vector Graphics? ...Bitmap Graphics? ...Text Items? What scale modes or window sizes are WORST for... ...Vector Graphics? ...Bitmap Graphics? ...Text Items? Is there a scale mode flash authors should ALWAYS use? ...NEVER use? Should there be an option to switch scalemodes? Should the right-click menu INCLUDE or EXCLUDE the Zoom/Play/Rewind/etc options? Do you care either way? Should loops INCLUDE or EXCLUDE music source? Author name? If included, should they be on the screen, just outside the screen, or on the right-click menu? What is your screen resolution? >> [_] Anon 1306966 Vector: best: exact fit worst: noscale Bitmap: Best: noscale Worst: Exact fit Text: same as Bitmap Always: - Never: Exact fit Option to switch would probaly be the best. Include zoom/play etc, I sometimes use them. Shouldn't have to include. 1440x900 >> [_] Anon 1306967 >># Never no bordor I meant, not never exact fit. my bad. >> [_] Anon 1306990 yah i copied >># as a template Vector: best: - worst: no border Bitmap: Best: no scale Worst: Exact fit Text: same as Bitmap Never: No border I know how to right click on my flash to zoom/show all so no. Less crap the better. No navigation plz...it's annoying. If anything, make it autohide. That's what the threads are for. Right click menu is as far as I would go - something to PROTIP in a thread every once and ahwhile. 1920x1200 >> [_] Anon 1307049 ...what the hell are you guys doing. all you have to do is make sure the flash always have showAll (default) and don't fucking touch the right click menu, then you have the best flash whatever you do >> [_] Anon 1307059 >># second this >> [_] Anon 1307080 >># What about the flashes that have pixel bitmaps that look like shit when they are scaled? (Like the Mario picture and the ascii table in the example) Would you rather it be forced to noScale (pixels) at, say, 640x480, or let it be scaled with showAll to an arbitrary size and zoom factor?

Period. >> [_] Anon 1296017 I have had people complain when I use noscale, but if I use showall, it blows my bitmaps to shit. I know some people have monstrous resolutions, but is the trade-off of shitty looking bitmaps vs. small flashes in big windows worth it? >> [_] Anon 1296036 >># Don't use bitmaps? >> [_] Anon 1296046 >># Bitmaps are critical to high-speed animation. Vector movie clips are fuck slow. I have 100 objects that I want to animate, and can either have 100 movieclips at less than 8 fps... or about 5 bitmap areas with a handful of .pngs loaded into memory, and redraw them with 40-50 fps. So speed and quality matter. |
