On the Internet, what is unacceptable is straightforward. Don't advocate prejudice, shill for
companies, etc.
Social correctness on TV is notoriously arbitrary and nonsensical. The language you cannot use is
tediously difficult to avoid, you have to align carefully to the network's interests, and
oftentimes, the best jokes are just barely over the line of what is acceptable, when they'd be
par for the course online.
There's also a LOT of pressure to appeal to a certain crowd on TV, which results in pandering and
ultimately nerfing humor. Online, you can feel free to express yourself and to a certain degree,
feel confident that there is a decent group of people who enjoy your sense of humor. On TV you're
appealing to channel viewers, not demographics in particular: it eventually becomes much easier
to just do what idiots want for money.
