Hey look, nearly all of the reasons why I don't watch game of thrones, in a single clip.
The good guy here is an obvious ripoff of Inigo from The Princess Bride. The swashbuckling
acrobatics, the constant talk of taking charismatic revenge, etc. It's funny that an obvious
ripoff of a foreign character was the most likable person in the scene. After a lot of very
poorly choreographed fighting, which basically involved a lot of unnecessary jumping and the big
guy moving inordinately slow, he inexplicably dies. Apparently the big guy decided that being
stabbed in the gut with several inches of spear, then having that spear violently ripped out,
isn't really a crippling injury. He must be a video game character. Oh, did I mention Inigo
Ersatz dies in an overly-gory way? This is game of thrones, of course, where everything has to be
explicit for all of the retards out there.

What pissed me off the most was the attitude of those who made this scene. Think about it, the
writer/director/producer/whoever had full control over the outcome, here. They could have made
anything happen that they wanted. And they decided the good guy should die, proving themselves
edgy as an angsty teenager and taking a jab at The Princess Bride while they were at it.
The only people who want to see the bad guy win are faggots who are so jaded that they genuinely
think life sucks all the time, and that happy endings are immature. The only people who have to
be explicitly shown every last bit of sex and gore are chucklefucks with no imagination, decency
or class. And whatever moron choreographed this fight has no idea how actual combat works.

It's exactly what happens in the book, other than that the mountain beats his head in instead of
the eye squish thing.
Sometimes the bad guy does win, maybe you ought to read young adult fiction if GoT is too gory
for you.

win.

Insofar that's somewhat true, but there's still 2 books to go.
tbh the books have almost no "true" heroes in the sense that they're mostly more complex like
anti heroes. Which is somewhat true to reality. Scarce few people are perfecly good.

What's interesting is the big guy has previously been described as being much faster than you'd
expect, so there's no reason at all he should be that clumsy.

Yes, serious but not crippling. The big guy indeed could have rolled over, and smashed 'inigo' 's
poor skull in. The 'big guy', mountain is a hardened vet. He's probably been poked in the gut
more than faggots in the red light district.
you don't die instantly from wounds like that, in fact it's the complications afterwards that
will most often kill you. The fight, while indeed poorly shot was more symbolic than anything
else.
I hate how they were trying to show Obyern as a 'gud fightr' with basic arena movements, but
that's what they were trying to get across. That a skilled fighter could totally kick the
mountain's ass, while blithering on about revenge. Especially when the mountain is wearing 200+
pounds of chain and plate mail making him slower than anything on earth.

And I never could read those books not because of what happens in them, but because of the
writing style. It's painful.
And, that said, my point stands. George decided the bad guy should win just so he could seem
edgy. I repeat, he decided that, because an author has total control over the world they build.
What prompted that decision? In the real world, bad things happen to good people. We accept that
because we have to; we can't just leave and go looking for another reality (not easily, anyway).
When it happens in fiction, and happens over and over and over again to where the good guys never
catch a break, then what's the point of having fiction in the first place?
And by the way, I've watched Audition. The gore in game of thrones ain't shit.

GOT is full of 'The good guy dai's' moments. It's like they're trying to say 'be evil, it's good
for you'. It is indeed overly angsty and dumb but... that's how the books go.
Mebeh it's just not for you, and let it be at that.

So then... why are you here exactly? One, this is the place for 'dark and angsty' bullshit, two
well, go read a happy book then.
Fiction is also another thing. Diverse. Why not simply go read a story where the hero wins at the
end, and not a drama where good folks get fucked over.

Nah dude the writing is great. Maybe not technically perfect, but its quick to read and fun.
You sound like the feminist complaining about why anyone would write books with rape or abuse to
women in them (with reference to GoT).
If you don't want conflict, don't read books about the political machinations of people in
fantastical, medieval-esque worlds..

Dark themes are fine when they're done well, but there's absolutely no value to something that's
just gritty and nothing else. But I wouldn't bother criticizing it if there weren't so many
people lapping it up.
Anyone who wants to see the bad guy win all the time, who doesn't like happy endings, is childish
and poorly adjusted. That's not an opinion, it's the truth. There's a reason why scenes like this
provoke anger, and why it takes a lot of desensitization to be unaffected.

You are aware that in real life, Good people don't come out on top even most of the time, right?
The world is a largely unjust place. Bad people, psychopaths, people with self ideals, they
succeed because good people are often worried about more than themselves, or unrealistically
expect their opponents to play fair.
And far too often, people who were good become bad when they do succeed. The anecdotes of "power
corrupts" aren't merely catchy.

but anon what you and a lot of people fail to understand is that Oberyn was a bad guy too
he had nothing but murderous intentions for the Lannisters, and sought to destabilize the kingdom
so that Dorne could claim legitimacy to the throne.
besides which the larger point about this fight is that he had completely and totally won against
the mountain until he allowed his hot temper and arrogance to get the better of him
if it had been Bronn who was holding that spear, he would have just kept sticking fresh sprears
in the big bastard's face until he stopped moving.

>unrealistic
>breaks my suspension of belief.
You are talking about a series in which there is literal magic, dragons, and resurrection, and
where the seasons can last for an indeterminate amount of time.
And it's not like there haven't been any victories for "good" characters. Arya escapes a number
of dangeorus situations and gets some of her revenge, for a start. In fact, most of the good
characters who die get a fair amount of shit done before they check out. Ned starts rebellion;
Rob makes serious military progress. And we see Theon get his comeuppance, and Stanis' army
repelled at Blackwater. Jeoffery kicks it -- decisively because of his lack of moral character.
You just want to bitch.

of course Bronn had not the skill with the spear, so that's assuming he could have beat the
