Didn't know what Space Station 13 was until this was posted, I'm watching a YouTube play now.
This game makes Dwarf Fortress look like Candy Land in terms of complexity. And it runs on the
trainwreck of a game engine Byond...ha.

The role of AI, is basically the player's role in Dwarf Fortress, and you have to follow your
laws while herding a station filled to the brim with destructive cats who are going to take apart
the walls to break into hydroponics to grow rainbow weed, meanwhile someone convinced the admin
to allow the janitor's zamboni cleaning device to be spawned and the janitor takes the first
opportunity to stuff the tank that normally dispenses soap with shit as they run up and down the
halls coating everything in shit, meanwhile the assistants are fighting over a dead assistant's
body, the priest just put themselves in a coffin and launched the coffin into space and holy
fucking shit there's a wizard and he's insta-gibbing people now the halls are coated in poop and
gore.
Welcome to Space Station 13

I wouldn't really call it more complex, but the roleplaying elements do something there.

Nah, it is more complex. The system starts off initially difficult to use, and then you get the
hang of it, and it feels like you've plateaued, but then suddenly you realize you can inject
things into cigarettes, or you can hack a vending machine to shoot products at people, or you can
wear a bedsheet as a cape by putting it on your backpack slot, or you can inject plasma into a
lightbulb to make it explode when turned on, or any of the intricacies of the various job
systems, and you realize that IT HAS NOT EVEN BEGUN.

>not realizing that the complexity of dwarf fortress does not come from its gameplay but its
mechanics
