Dx11 is just now starting to get supported and although most games are compatible with dx10 or straight up opengl, dx11 (and soon 12) exclusive games are pretty common. And there's specific stuff that still needs work. For example , a while ago I got Dark Souls to work with dsfix and a bunch of other mods and I could swear it run slightly smoother than it did on windows, but the 360 controller mapping was completely fucked (pause on r3, item use on left trigger etc.). I spent hours trying every solution on winehq and random forums but nothing worked and I couldn't even use a joy2key equivalent because the raw controller input couldn't be blocked which generated a double input issue whenever a button was pressed. All that said older applications (including 16 bit) tend to work better than on current windows. >># Try anything with kde5/plasma, as far as my usage goes everything is nearly the same as windows only most the small things windows does wrong they did right. Just be mindful that if you use linux at one point or another you'll have to learn to use a console. This is the book that I used back when I started: https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxco mmand/ It is long but very thorough, clear and even fun to read if you are even slightly interested in computer science and it's history.
