This made me sad because obviously we are never getting a sequel.

Solid perspective.

me too.
That movie was really great and I wanted to saw more. Unlike the spiderman films, they made a
trilogy and then 3 or 4 years later the Amazing Spiderman! Exactly the same story, but with
different actors. What a waste of time.

Was it really a bomb? It seems like everyone I knew was going apeshit about Dredd while it was in
theatres. It was a pretty decent action film, too. Definitely a step up from the Stallone movie.

Yeah it did, the ad campaign was pretty meh. They only advertised it on the web and in theaters.
(I never saw any ads for Dredd on tv). Not enough people caught it in theaters for it to be
considered successful. I remember going to it on release day with buddies and the theater was
pretty much empty. It did catch its second wind after it was released to dvd and whatnot though.

Someone told me the only reason they keep making spiderman movies, same reason why we keep seeing
fantastic 4. The studios that own the rights to those charas wanna hold onto them.
From what I hear, so long as they keep making movies X number of years, they get to keep the
rights, no matter how shitty the movie does.
Sony finally hit the jackpot when marvel/disney gave into joss and let him get rights to
spiderman.
This was a really good bit of info though.
Up in alaska, we used to have film subsidies, but couple things happend. First off, several
stupid reality TV shows were taking advantage of those tax breaks, and one particular douchbag
who makes the baby einstien movies totally raped the tax credit thing. And then the oil prices
dropped out, along with with oil companies pushing to hold onto a super tax break law, which has
cost the state literally billions.
As a result, money and support for movie tax credits up here fully dried up.

I also heard this.
As for Dredd being a flop, I love Karl Urban's work (really wish Almost Human stuck around), and
I think all the actors and actresses in Dredd did a good job. However, the writing in my opinion
wasn't very good and so doing a great job when the writing is crap isn't very effective.
