i had to stop. fucking annoys the hell out of me when people sound like they are reading from a
fucking script. if you want to make a video like this, stop talking like you are writing some
fucking essay. nobody talks like that. fuck you

Aren't paid mods just DLC?

he is reading from a script, most people on youtube with moderately sized channels do, what
really pisses me off is when I can see them reading from a teleprompter.

basically, but now the company has to do literally no work to make money from this shit

Why the fuck is that preloader appearing in more and more flashes? What did I miss? It's much
more annoying that helpful
>> [_] Anonymous 08/02/15(Sun)18:33:24 No.2864329
i think this guy brought it to the point

>>2864313
that's the thing, this guy does research before making his videos and do write a script before
cutting together the video. his not speaking directly from his heart but im sure he tries his
best to sound natural when reading back what he has written. i think he does a pretty good job
and frankly i prefer a well-structured speech where the points are clearly formulated instead of
a improvised, unscripted talk
his newest video is about the Shenmue 3 kickstarter/sony "scandal" which I think he broke down in
a good way and pointed out a bunch of stuff that general gaming media seems to have missed:

there was a link in the flash below the visuals

Apparently the way the video is encoded means that it won't play correctly until the whole thing
is loaded, so just having some feedback helps instead of staring at a black screen,

That would explain this flash, but what about the others which had the preloader added later on,
even when they were working just fine?

were people really upset over the shitty mods on steam workshop because they put price tags on
them for like a day then realized how retarded the idea was?
>> [_] Anonymous 08/02/15(Sun)18:57:04 No.2864362

either someone made a new flash with a better quality version of the video in it or the flash
loaded so fast before that you didn't see the preloader

listen to what he's saying in the video

Seems like you've missed the gaben's damage control on reddit defending paid mods about 3 days
after it was introduced, claiming that a) it's a good idea and b) he didn't have any clue that
Valve was planning introduction of paid mods (which went for months already, no way he could miss
that)
>> [_] Anonymous 08/02/15(Sun)19:09:52 No.2864372

Never used steam workshop due to pirating.
But holy shit valve and bethesda are massive jews
>> [_] Anonymous 08/02/15(Sun)19:32:04 No.2864389
>>2864372
I think one more thing should be said, Valve after pulling the paid mods from workshop said
something along "It was not a good idea to introduce paid mods in a game like Skyrim which
already had established modding community", hinting that paid mods are going to make comeback in
some games and they'll be available from day 1.

the video is overflowing of good points
for example yes, modding is a big deal on pc and knowing that there would be no mods (free ones)
for the next elder scrolls game or fallout game would really damage the games
skyrim today is meh with its graphics. new vegas is even more meh.
with modding in mind they are really great though and worth buying even today
i think the alternatives to valve's bullshit greedy paid mod system that he listed at the end of
the video (the "i would rather" part) are really good.
