ya I was a bit confused as it's already 24fps, which is what the anime was

the only thing I wanna do the next time I remake it is the original scene I have 87 frames for,
but to get the flash to fit here I had to drop it to 40 frames and 78% jpg quality at 24fps

I know alot about image optimization so I'll see what I can do outside of flash since flash can't
optimize jpgs as well on it's own as outside

and currently the audio is 2 different files, that with tweaking of 1.01 seconds I can get to fit
  into 1 audio file too

beyond that not sure what else to do to make it smaller to fit the more frames in, especially
since I wanna keep the image quality as high as possible

Hey is this 4Help author? wcb.
Generally, I like to keep my projects at a minimum of NTSC (29.970fps) or higher.
The only reason I would go lower is if the source video demands it; say if it were IVTC
(23.976fps) source, recoding at NTSC will generate tons of horrible interpolated frames.
Also keep in mind that Flash only has a framerate resolution of n.xx , not n.xxx like real DVW's,
so using IVTC source , you'll need to "stretchcode" the video either up or down that 0.006fps so
teh video has its original frames still in place (no inbetweens), only at a new slightly faster
  or slower rate.
this is ESSENTIAL for these kinds of framerates because rounding up or down in Flash will
inevitably cause an audible seam where the video races or lags against the audio. Project
framerate in Flash only affects video playback speed, NOT audio. Once triggered, an audio object
always plays at the same rate.

  >not sure what else to do
I'd leave Flash's JPEG com[ression at teh default 80%. Pre-process your sources in a suitable
editor to get them as light as possible.
As for audio, fiddle with the bitrates on export... find the lowest one that sounds acceptible.
Generally 48kbps @44,100Hz sample is good for most junk, Audiofocus flashes will depend on the
source; generally no lower than 64kbps bare minimum.

Also, you might want to try taking your stills and pre-compiling a video clip, and transcoding to
FLV with Media Encoder. There, you can fine-tune the bytestream to get the movie weight just
  where you want it.
The flash it's embedded in will actually be about 2-4% SMALLER than the FLV it contains.
Also decide if you want the audio in the FLV or separate. Both have their caveats, but offer
great flexibility in trimming the fat.

ya it's me, still fumbling my way through flash seeing what I can do

at least so far what I've been using is gifs or I use virtualdub to literally get me all the
frames between 2 set points, and then I sift through those frames for my work, this is probably
only usable in anime rather than other video types

so far all my audio files are in other layers than the layer with the images, and since I'm not
importing actual video into flash I don't think I should be having an issue?

also I did this one if you missed it >>2821960

last time I ran a size report for my flash it said my audio was at this level 11KHz Mono 16 kbps
  MP3
not being an audiophile or knowing much about audio I'll have to do more research into this sorta
thing, especially if you guys are noticing the quality differences, I just have laptop speakers
  and junk earbuds

  >you might want to try taking your stills and pre-compiling a video clip, and transcoding to FLV

thanks for the advice I'll look into that before I make my next flash, especially with the size
savings it sounds like it'll give me

  >probably only usable in anime rather than other video types
Not so!! This is a perfectly fine (and seemingly innately human) workflow. I and others do
  exactly that.
Virtualdub is good, personally I use Avidemux to chop clips. It's stupid-simple, and in minutes I
have a bucketload of sauceclips to play with.
Personally, when I can, I chop a project together in a DVW (usually Vegas Pro) and export an HD
mp4, then transcode to FLV with the seamless audio in it - this vivrtually guaratees alignment
when embedded and looped in Flash. Transcoding stage lets me adjust source bytestream depths for
video and audio, and I pull my flash in under the weight limit while looking and sounding fairly
  nice.

I only add audio on a separate layer in Flash if the source vid is without audio, like a GIF -
but then again, I almost always prefer to make an MP4 out of the GIF in Vegas (piece of piss)
which allows me edit audio alongside... then transcode, yadda yadda

  >do more research
  This.
That is like toy-squeaker low quality.
And yeah, if you have more than junk earbuds, you really do notice it. Get a fair headset,
doesn't have to be killer, so you can really hear what you're doing.

Sounds like you're either scrimping on audio to preserve video, or you haven't fixed lame default
  publish values in Flash.

This is /f/, don't get too hung up on quality, since we all know that Flash is a horrible A/V
container. It shines in vector animation and interactive bullcrap.

You also know that you can explicitly set the audio properties on the audio object itself in the
Libray. The settings here take precedence over the two in Publish Settings UNLESS you check the
"override settings" box on the publish page.

You know that you always cut a loop in raw WAV format at the highest resolution possible- when
you import to Flash, DO NOT assume it's treating it as a WAV!! Go to the audio objects
properties, and make sure you set it to .wav (it will probably be set to .mp3) and match the
source resolution, or dither lower for filesize.
Ex: source audio .wav 44,100kHz 128kbps
import to flash, set properties to .wav 44,100kHz 48kbps (drastically reduces stream weight, and
  still retains acceptible sound quality)

whoops had that exact problem, imported a wav once and the audio quality was super bad after,
didn't make sure to force it to stay as wav

I only just realized the other day on some of my earlier flashes that it was changing my png into
jpg as well until I forced it to retain whatever image type I wanted

but I'll make sure to step up my audio game
