His bug robots have been at this shit for years, I think 200 might be mentioned somewhere. As for his origin, there is that one scene with the automaton family he has acting out a scene, plus he calls those super robots that fight Grugal something I think. He mentions "bringing them back" or "starting again" quite a bit near the end.
