>> [_] Anon 3477748 There's NO depictions of Horus being crucified at his death, and Horus WASN'T a virgin birth. On top of that, I couldn't find anything about an "eastern star" marking his birth, and ANY research I tried to do into any of these points was just an article referencing another article that says "Horus = Jesus" without any reliable source. TL;DR this is bullshit Merry Santa Day

>> [_] Anon 3477750 >># You know, what's funny is that when I tried to look up anything about any of these points, Zeitgeist was literally the ONLY thing that came up. Nowhere else have I seen claims about Horus being a virgin birth (he was born from Osiris' dismembered penis with a reconstructed body), there's no other sources besides Zeitgeist that claim Horus had 12 disciples, and I can literally not find a SINGLE text on ANYTHING relating to an "Anup The Baptizer" that isn't just a Zeitgeist screenshot or is literally debunking this. "Anup the Baptizer" is literally just made up. I don't really care if you're linking a Source Book, because they obviously didn't check the sources they used for this.
>> [_] Anon 3477751 >># This video goes into more detail about this specific argument plus more things that people say about Horus being like Jesus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FR08Qtv apM if you want a TL;DR all you need to know is that the only thing about any of this flash is true is that Horus did miracles- which of course he would, he's a God.
>> [_] Anon 3477752 I'm probably gonna get called a newfag but qrd on Zeitgeist? I've been seeing a lot of their flashes here but can't make sense of any of it. >Captcha: Why the fuck does /f/ still use recaptcha.
>> [_] Anon 3477753 >># It's a series of documentaries that are conspiracy theories about the New World Order and everything. I've only seen things from Part I, which is about Jesus and Religion all coming from one religion and it's used for control blah blah blah you get the gist. Apparently Part II and III are about 9/11 being an inside job and the Federal Reserve is a private bank that controls our banking. I believe both of those, but given how shoddy Part I and its "research" is, I'd only take the other two of 'em with a grain of salt. Whole thing just seems like if /pol/ tried to make a documentary and it went about as well as you'd expect a documentary made by the mentally handicapped to go

>> [_] Anon 3477756 >># missed the quote: “Religion can never reform mankind because religion is slavery." ~Robert G. Ingersoll
>> [_] Anon 3477757 >># >“The Christian religion is a parody on the worship of the sun, in which they put a man called Christ in the place of the sun, and pay him the adoration originally paid to the sun.” This quote is really reductive and isn't anything definitive, plus, Thomas Paine was more of a political theorist than a theologian, no? I'll be frank, I can't read through all of these, but posting a laundry list of books that are "sources" doesn't mean anything when the information STILL presented is COMPLETELY contrary to everything else that's in the thousands-year-old study of Egyptology. On top of that, the books you posted are made by authors who have shoddy at best credentials. Looking through a few of them, some names kept coming up: >John Remsburg >No background in theology and no record of any formal education at all >Albert Churchward >Barely any record of him existing at all other than that his brother got famous off of notorious psuedoscience of a "sunken continent" that was proved completely and undeniably false >D.M Murdock >Had a degree in liberal arts and ONE year of unspecified education at an unaccredited and incredibly small philosophy school in Greece Plus, the YouTube video you showed STILL had people quoting things that were also just blatantly untrue. So no, I guess Zeitgeist wasn't the ONLY thing to talk about them, but it's still just as stupid. Even though you're showing countless books and "sources", none of them are by people who are actually reputable or have any formal or informal background in theology in the slightest. What you're posting aren't "sources", they're blog posts that are sold on Amazon. I could barely even find proof of Albert Churchward existing, and there was literally no citation on anything attached to John Remsburg's past, only that he wrote books on the Jesus Myth stuff. TL;DR: You posted a list of sources, but not one of them is made by a single person who's actually reputable or recognized.
>> [_] Anon 3477758 >># Personally even without the sources I don't believe Jesus Christ existed because I don't believe in nonsense like someone magically healing the sick, or magically walking on water or raising the dead etc. I think christians want to put Jesus into history when jesus is fictional to me. The circular reasoning of religion is dumb "the bible is true because the bible says it's true". Plus the bible is full of gore like ripping out your eye if you "sin" whatever that means. So that's nice. That's the book people put their hands on in court, another religious event which blames people for their behaviour when it's a combination of nature and nuture not one or the other. All religions attribute to themselves miracles, or the make believe as true. More modern religions like Joseph Smith's mormonism and L. Ron Hubbard's scientology treat themselves as phrohets who were magical in someway when what they're doing is sucking gullibule people in with lies and decieit. Prayer is as bogus as Scientology's auditing, it doesn't actually do anything compared to the actual work of scientists who build technology for people to use. And last year this great video I reposted to a youtube channel yet was taken down instantly for hate speech. It just simply explains how fire works and how hell is scientifically impossible because you need a fuel for a fire to burn. When science is declared hate speech by society and you have the religious being protected I think that's bad news for society. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbrQI0r1 B7w
>> [_] Anon 3477761 >># >Personally even without the sources I don't believe Jesus Christ existed because I don't believe in nonsense like someone magically healing the sick, or magically walking on water or raising the dead etc. I think christians want to put Jesus into history when jesus is fictional to me. Regardless of whether or not you believe in miracles, Jesus and his teachings existed and were well documented by historians of the time ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacitus_on _Jesus ). You may consider it "circular reasoning" to use the Bible as a source, but that's because of how the Bible is written. The bible isn't just one guy's holy text, the New Testament ESPECIALLY is a collection of accounts and reports from those who knew and followed Jesus. It isn't just a book of rules that says "This is right because we said it's right", it's a collection of stories, parables, and teachings. >Plus the bible is full of gore like ripping out your eye if you "sin" whatever that means I assume that you're talking about the verse where Jesus says to cast your eye out from yourself if it causes lust and temptation, he's not literally saying to cut off any body part that makes you sin, but is emphasizing that we need to remove ourselves even from situations that lead to sin (and as for what "sin" means, it's anything that is separated from the Grace of God, pretty much anything that's the archetypical bad or selfish), but I digress. The gore that's in the Bible is hardly used as some sort of ruleset or form of control but is another part of recounting the story or as a part of a parable
>> [_] Anon 3477764 >># >All religions attribute to themselves miracles, or the make believe as true. More modern religions like Joseph Smith's mormonism and L. Ron Hubbard's scientology treat themselves as phrohets who were magical in someway when what they're doing is sucking gullibule people in with lies and decieit. Not really true. Christianity is about Jesus and inevitably Heaven, but while people like to focus a lot on aspects of Heaven and God's power, it actually revolves around the teachings and philosophy of Scripture itself. Yes, modern religions like Mormons and Scientology can revolve a LOT around control, but what the Bible actually discusses is freedom from sin and vice through kindness and faith. >Prayer is as bogus as Scientology's auditing, it doesn't actually do anything compared to the actual work of scientists You're misunderstanding the point of Prayer. Prayer is a lot like meditation, it's a very spiritual thing that's meant to be a connection between a person and God. It's not supposed to just be a magic wish granter, it's meant to be something that's used to connect with God as one sees fit. Some use it to meditate, others to confess, others to ask for guidance, and I guarantee you it does do things for those who practice it in a way that helps them as an individual. >And last year this great video I reposted to a youtube channel yet was taken down instantly for hate speech That's probably not because it's science and explaining how fire works. It's probably because somebody got offended and reported a video with not too many views and YouTube took it down because it doesn't matter to them, that's just how YouTube works for all videos, not even necessarily because they actually are "hate speech". Also, saying "hell isn't possible because you need a fuel" is irrational. What's scientifically possible doesn't matter for a metaphysical concept, which Hell is in scripture whether or not you believe it's truth.
>> [_] Anon 3477767 >># >># According to Zeitgeist not one historian living around the time Jesus apparently existed documented Jesus travelling around with 12 disciples. This is because in the real world people do not walk on water. https://youtu.be/0ptiXB7lyys?t=2137 Fuck the bible biblefag. The bible is not a source. God does not exist just because a book called the bible says God exists. Prayer actually requires demonstrable evidence to work and it just does not work compared to the scientific method which actually tests reality. The bible is testimony just like a scientology dvd with tonnes of testimony saying "scientology works". Also the bible does not make a distinction between literal or not. "Sin" is not real. Reality or a God which does not exist does not keep a record of the wrong things people do. Religion just like the legal systems blames people for their behaviour when it's a combination of nature and nurture. People are not responsible for their behaviour when it comes from a brutal environment. I suggest the show THE WIRE by david simon. I'd say the bible is a form of control considering threats of hell and stoning unless you conform etc that's throughout the book. Christianity is bullshit. There's no such thing as fairly land heaven or punishment in hell when people die. Why? because there's no PROOF that someone goes somewhere when they die. The question is scary for people so that's why they seek religion. Prayer is a very nothing thing that does not connect you to anything. There is no God. If prayer worked how come people die every day from poverty? Sounds like God is a total cunt or at least a fuckhead. Hell is not real it's a form of control plain and simple.
>> [_] Anon 3477768 >># >According to Zeitgeist Did you miss the entire part where Zeitgeist used information that was made up on the spot? Or that they don't have a single source with a credible background? Let's not use "according to Zeitgeist" for anything, since we both know that it's not a source for anything. > Prayer actually requires demonstrable evidence to work and it just does not work compared to the scientific method which actually tests reality. Once again, you're missing the entire point of prayer. I already went into detail about this, don't be willfully ignorant when I explained this. >Also the bible does not make a distinction between literal or not. Are you kidding? there's VERY clear statements of hyperbole, VERY clear statements of something being a parable, VERY clear rhetorical devices like any writing. > Religion just like the legal systems blames people for their behaviour when it's a combination of nature and nurture. This isn't true at all. Jesus' teachings are about forgiveness and self reflection. >People are not responsible for their behaviour when it comes from a brutal environment This is just plain wrong. People's environments and upbringing affect their actions, I know that well enough from how a lot of my own family acts, but that doesn't mean that they're not subject to the consequences of their actions and aren't responsible for their own self-reflection and improvement. You're making excuses for people rather than actually wanting people to do better for themselves. >Why? because there's no PROOF that someone goes somewhere when they die. You're asking for a physical metric of metaphysical properties, which will get you nowhere. Saying that God created the universe has just as much weight as saying the Big Bang created the universe, both are theoretical and metaphysical concepts that we can't prove.
>> [_] Anon 3477769 >># We can argue back and forth about physical proofs all day, but the fact of the matter is that something that delves into philosophy and metaphysics isn't something that can be discussed with a diagram. The miraculous survival of the Christian faith and its texts, prophecies from the bible being realized, the fact that despite constant study into genetics and chemistry we only find it less and less likely that other planets could ever house life, they're all things that aren't definitive proof, but still lead people to take up faith for a belief in its teachings and ultimate goals. >If prayer worked how come people die every day from poverty? Sounds like God is a total cunt or at least a fuckhead. According to Christian and Judaic canon, God allows man to have complete free will. While God loves humanity and wishes to see it succeed, it's up to us TO succeed. People saying "If god is good why does x happen?" is wishing for slavery rather than realizing that we have the tools and abilities to prevent deaths from poverty but it is only through our own greed that it still happens. We have the technology and resources to prevent death and disease, but what stops us is our own vices and greed. God doesn't force people into changing the world, it's about finding our own ways to spread kindness to change the world for ourselves.
>> [_] Anon 3477770 >># >Hell is not real it's a form of control plain and simple. Hell isn't a form of control. While the Catholic Church in the middle ages DID use it to create fear and panic in people in order TO gain control, it's not really what Hell is described as. Hell isn't supposed to be some grand threat to control the masses, Hell is described as a choice taken by people who actively choose a life without God. The reason why it's suffering is because it's a place that exists without love, without compassion, and without mercy. I disagree with anyone who uses religion as some vehicle to get people to act in a certain way, since it blatantly disregards what hell is and the mercy that is described in scripture.
