[_] .fla and .swf file parsing Anon 3507911 I'm looking to write a program that can parse and read through .fla or .swf files to batch convert animation data into another form that would work in non-flash software. Do you guys have any knowledge on how to do this or any tools that would help me in this? The hex code of these files is hard to interpret. We can't even find positional coordinates in test files. Attached file is just one of our test .swfs we were using to study.
>> [_] Anon 3507914 I'm really dumb so dont take my word for it, but the admin of swfchan can generate thumbnails from each /f/ upload. Try using their boards or emailing him? Otherwise things like Sothink Swf Decompiler were made 20 years ago and lasted around the peak of flash usage; a lot of these programs with their libraries and tools are clearly lost to time???? e.g. Trying to find a script to run Swift3D officially, is gone, along with pseudo Flash animation program Swish, and so are a number of other tools While I'm no good at this stuff; I am interested in knowing more about how flash works. Good luck anon?
>> [_] Anon 3507915 >># I know that Adobe Animate can convert fla to html5 with some limitations though, the file may not play exactly the same, there could be things missing, depending on the complexity of the original file. Also It can't convert AS2. Only AS3 and above. You could start there.
>> [_] Anon 3507916 >># >># This may be a break through for me. I opened the animation in jpex. Selected "frames" at the top "Export selection" Chose format of "HTML5 Canvas" And it output a file that runs the animation flawlessly on my browser and with all the frame data in the HTML file it seems. Now I gotta see if I can write a script to parse.
>> [_] Anon 3507917 >># Thanks for the tip, buddy. I've been years trying to remember which one compiler had that option to convert flash to html5. I remember finding that once, and I thought it was incredible, and then forgot about it. I couldn't find the compiler/conversion option ever again lol. That shit had me going crazy for a long time.
>> [_] Anon 3507919 >># good ol' FFDEC
>> [_] Anon 3507926 Update on the situation: The HTML frame data seems to have no hierarchy. So, given a skeleton: shoulder > forearm > elbow > arm > wrist > hand > fingers Where the parent movements affect children and children are positioned relative to their parent. The HTML file just records the absolute global values for each element. The only solution I can think of is to manually define the hierarchy by hand, which includes connecting certain element numbers to each body part, then feed that as another input to the parsing script.
