This time I won't spoil anything, except much has changed since 2.0.

If anyone wants to keep the IdleQuest family living, you can edit this flash freely with flasm16
which is a freeware app. For the actionscript, it decompiles with Flare.

Oh what the hell, let me just explain anyway. I realized 2.0 was too fast and too much unlike the
original game, so this combines the new abilities from 2.0 (rebalanced to suit) with the
best-loved ladder versions1.7 and 1.8. I personally like this the best.

remains of an unfortunate kobold sprang to life. Without hesitation Duran charged and decapitated
the fiend with his unbalanced longsword. However he was unable to savor that victory as a blue

Thinking quickly Duran used a form of hypnosis to distract the ghast just long enough to come in

Only Hobbits get more dex than Half-Orcs, and they get considerably less str so you'd do less
damage. Don't really know about a good skill combination for bard... but bards have a long

Hmm, a quicken focus on a bard would probably make the early levels easier, but once your growth

>> [_] Anonymous 09/26/10(Sun)07:00 No.1382569

Here are some new combos that I think might be worthwhile with the new skills and items:

Fireball Necromancer - Previously nobody who had Fireball as a focus could cast it at higher
levels because the mana cost goes up, but now Necromancers get more mana every time they buy a
  totem.
Fireball Priest - Priests now have more wis I hear.
Poison Bard - Bards slow the enemy down and stay alive for long, but have trouble hitting. Poison
  seems like the perfect solution.
Foresight Wizard - Wizards now cast spells very fast at later levels, but their spamming ability
is limited by lower mana than other casters. This should fix that.

If anybody decides to try one out, post how it goes. I'm so happy running just my Half-Orc knight
  I can't be bothered myself.

More like it has the whole RPG experience without the boring grinding.

Also, it DOES have gameplay. Skills, enemies, classes, races all do something and everybody goes
through the same areas and uses the same (types of) items for the same effects. It's just that
your character plays with an AI, so you have to roll and reroll and branch one with that in mind.

Some also use an evolutionary approach, making copies of the same character periodically to see
which one is progressing fastest then branching from that and closing the others. YMMV

Focus means "spell focus" in Official Ladder jargon and it refers to your character's tendency to

  >Fireball focus
  >Poison focus

The problem with castable foci isn't as simple as "hey they get more mana now so they can focus
fireball", because the game will not level a spell up higher than it can cast, only right to the
/edge/ of what it can cast.

So these new Priests with mega wis and these new Necromancers with totem-mana are great and all,
but all that's going to happen is the game will level the spells up higher to make use of the
larger mana pools, and thus be in the exact same situation as they've always been where they
  can't cast shit.

>> [_] Anonymous 09/26/10(Sun)07:59 No.1382603

  >>1382602 (cont.)
The only castable foci worth even considering are Ice Arrow and Poison, because the game is
designed to always lead with those two spells if the enemy isn't already under their effects; the
problem with a Heal or Fireball focus is that they usually cost about four mana less than your
maximum, and the game uses up twenty of your mana leading with Ice Arrow and Poison, and now
you're fucked, so focusing Ice Arrow or Poison and getting them to four mana under your maximum
you at least have a 50/50 chance at casting the right one at the beginning of the next fight.

They do sometimes pick different spells on the side, but I don't think I've ever had a rogue or a

You're forgetting that int determines how many spell levels a class gets. If a class is getting

  increasing your mana consumption

Kickass. I can pull of about 2 of them with my mana amount, and one alone is good enough to knock
off more than half the HP of anything I'm fighting. A regular attack afterwards will essentially
kill it. Pretty much decimating everything.

It took six pre-level up, and I had 11. Which was pretty good. I have 14 now, but I can't tell

Ice arrow sucks when you first get it, but later in the game when enemies get faster and deadlier
it becomes a necessity for living.

That actually makes me feel a lot better about it, but right now it's not that high a priority.
Can't wait for it to become useful so I can feel better about it taking away from my smite.

It helps, but so would killing enemies faster. QuickSpell may be very advantageous for the wizard
later on since it also makes you Ice Arrow and Poison faster

This is pretty much why I'm kind of raging at me using it now. Smite did enough damage that I
didn't have to worry about the speed of the enemy. I would take them down in two-three turns. But
I hardly ever use it now, even with ice arrow or poison. Instead it's ice arrow, poison, watch
with dread as it takes 5 hits to kill anything and my fleshy 14 health gets knocked down every
  time.

Yeah, this is an actual game with gameplay on auto-pilot after you design and roll your

  difference instead.

That's one thing I think is just wrong about the AI. It only uses always fireball instead of ice
arrow if ice arrow is like level 1 and fireball like level 30. But what can you do.

You'll probably start smiting again next level as your mana pool grows.

>> [_] Anonymous 09/26/10(Sun)09:57 No.1382660

  >You're forgetting that int determines how many spell levels a class gets. If a class is getting
wis much faster than int, it simply can't level a spell up to the point it can't cast it no
matter how much the AI would like to.

And you're forgetting that all four mage classes, who are the only classes where you would ever
consider getting a castable focus on, can learn spells through buying items, so the AI will
continue to level a priest's or a necromancer's fireball beyond reasonable levels, and a bard's
  poison.
